I think the ps2 should be the best selling console ever. 

This is not offense to the wii, nintendo did a good job making a console and showing that old dogs can do new tricks.

But I think the ps2 should be in a class of its own and shouldnt be reached, it expanded the industry, helped make new franchises, saved companies(because most games sold well and made money). 

This doent mean that the wii wont sell 100 million because it will, but I dont think it deserves to beat the ps2(YET) 

i hope it outsells it like that it will get tremendous support

lol the ds will pass the ps2 soon.

It does prove that the industry is expanding because the wii will get 100 million, but the ps3 and the xbox360 will get about 65- 70 and 40-45 million respectfully.  So if you add them up, there will more consoles sold this gen than last.

It's a different thing. PS2 was an evolution of the core market, Wii is new gamers. Even if Wii outsells it, you shouldn't start slitting your wrists.

On a side note, why do you care?

The wii seems to be expanding the market more. Most of the ps2 were for it being a cheap dvd player. Also so will the wii. It will help new developers that are small such as high voltage break the shovleware streak, and various wiiware developers. This is because development costs are so low. So while your points are valid for the ps2, I believe they are even more so for the wii.
