I was looking at the list of best selling games in the U.S. and found out that NONE of them are new IPs. It isn't too surprising, but I'm curious as to what could be the lifetime best selling new IP in the U.S.

Maybe Halo 1? Assassin's Creed maybe since it's multi-platform? Gears of War?

Not sure about US, but Assassin's Creed (360) was the second fastest selling new IP when it released in the UK behind The Getaway on PS2.

‘Assassin’s Creed’ was released on both Xbox 360 and PS3 with Microsoft’s format claiming 67% of sales and becoming the second fastest selling new IP on an individual format behind ‘The Getaway’ on PS2 (launched December 2002), as well as the 3rd fastest selling Xbox 360 game within a weekly sales period, behind ‘Halo 3’ and ‘COD 4’.

Assassin's Creed was the fastest selling new IP in the US when it released.

On the software side, sales were up 62% to $1.3 billion, with Activision's Call of Duty 4 and Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy besting the rest, followed by Assassin's Creed, which beat Gears of War's previous record of the best selling new IP at launch.
