leo-j, stick this in your head: The PS3 and 360 haven't shown (or guaranteed) anything which is far above each other in terms of graphics.

The two systems have a substantially different architecture, so you will see games doing certain things better on one system than the other. What you probably won't see (according to me and many others) are games which, all things considered, are far above what the other platform can do.

I have yet to see a better looking 360 game than gears of war, and uncharted is already considered the best looking console game.

Also with the recent release of GEARS 2 video, it seems the only graphicle inhancement was more enemies on screen and better lighting than gears of war, which indicates that gears 2 has peaked the 360 interms of performence hence why we see no visual improvement from gears 1 to gears 2.

On the other hand, Uncharted which is techinically more impressive than GEARS 1, is inferior to a couple of games for consoles. These games are " MGS4, and KILLZONE 2". Killzone 2 shows everything that seemed to be impossible on the PS3 hardware and surpasses expectations, those that doubt it are blind to see the truth.

I'm still waiting for a 60 fps PS3 game which looks better than this with as many character models on screen and the same detail:

I'm not even sure Uncharted really looks much better than Ninja Gaiden 2, and Uncharted is 30 fps... I never played Uncharted, but from the screenshots I can sure see it's a pretty well-done game, but technically... nothing above what the 360 has proven IMO.

Here's a technical user for ya:

The PS3 and 360 are so close in graphics, even asserting that there is a significant difference one way or another, is absolute obsessive-compulsive fanboyism.

For all intents and purposes, there is no noticable difference.

I agree and this should be the final word for this thread, end of discussion.

Leo-J a consoles power is not determined by how good games look, but by many factors including this. It seems you don't understand. The main 3 are visuals, framerate, and size. Visuals is how good a game looks like you say. Framerate is how smooth a game runs. And size is how much stuff is on screen. Then you have many minor things like AI and Physics. While Ai and Physics could be bigger, neither console seems to utilize this, and I see many games with ps2 physics, and AI. So stop saying just because a game looks better the ps3 is more powerful.

They seem pretty close to me, and it doesn't really matter anyways. Fanboys People will see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe, that's why this argument will keep coming up again and again.

Currently Playing:  Saints Row 2 | Battlefield 2 | Company of Heroes

Recently Beaten: Gears of War | Super Mario Galaxy | Darwinia | MGS4 | Sam and Max Ep. 4, Portal | Mirror's Edge | Uncharted | Mass Effect

Looking Forward to: Alan Wake | Splinter Cell : Conviction | The Last Guardian | Batman: Arkham Asylum | SMG2 | Mass Effect 2 |

You have never played the game therefore you can have no opinion on its visuals, not to mention those that have played the game(Reviewers) credit is as the best looking game on consoles.

Also MGS4 as well as Ratchet and clank of those games that surpass NINJA GAIDEN 2 visually and both run at 60fps.

I think its on topic to include the PC in this discussion, otherwise PC/Wii owners will feel left out.

I think the Wii definately has an edge over the PC in resolutions like 480i/480p but it quickly loses it as the resolutions climb whilst the PC is the oposite, no game is playable at 480i that looks as good as a Wii game yet when the resolutions increase it shows some incredible legs all the way out to 2560/1600.

Theres some debate about which one is better, fanboys on the internet often cite games such as SMG or Crysis, depending on which side of the fence they are on. I hope Happy Squirel doesn't chew my butt out for this, but I perfer higher resolution gaming and I like the fidelity of Crysis better even though I don't have any evidence to back me up as far as which ones better.

The PC should be able to produce better graphics at low resolutions to the Wii, but being that most PC games are designed around resolutions of 1024x728 (as a minimum) at this point in time the games look awful at lower resolutions. In contrast, Wii games are designed around the limitations of lower resolutions, and at higher resolutions the pixelation of textures and polygonalization artifacts become very noticeable and thus would not look particularly good.

Haha I was joking, funny thing is that the games that did render at 480i are so old now that they would look worse than a SNES game.

Tease.

Killzone 2 has more things going on onscreen than any shooter on the XBOX 360.

edit:

@HappySquirrel

Well I found the game that you said you have yet to see, that game is ratchet and clank, it has huge environments of platforming and is much more impressive visually than oblivion, not to mention it has barely any loading times and runs at a LOCKED 60fps.

I know you were joking, but there was some truth to it that I wanted to clarify ... I've never seen it done, but I suspect if you played Crysis at 480i it would be unplayable because you couldn't see what was happening.

Ratchet and Clank

It's pretty hard to compare a cartoony-game to a game with more realistic graphics, but I don't see the substantial kind of difference I was looking for. Show me the best R&C screenshot you can find.
