I doubt MS would do that first of all

assuming they did, I think Sony would have to lower the price by $50

I see three things countering the effect of a 360 price drop in the summer/after summer

1. Little Big Planet
2. SOCOM Confrontation
3. Resistance: Fall of Man 2

laugh. then wait for quarterly reports then laugh some more.

Im not sure if M$ could afford much of a price drop.

The need to cut the price in Japan, Asia, Ausrtralia and New Zealand -- first. especially here in Australia ...

In Europe they already did a large price drop. The Arcade pack is cheaper than the Wii their...

In North America due to weak dollar in not sure Microsoft can afford to cut the price ...

Finally -- i can't see M$ making a move aganist SONY untill they know what cards SONY is holding. They already spent OVER $7 billion trying to beat SONY. Only to have Nintendo surpass them... now they in a position to profit for a while while they build up a good reputation and pre-pare for the next generation which will proberly start in 2012... a mere 4 years away...

No one is thinking of a price cut currently. With the falling dollar A), a back log of losses closing to 8 billion B), and steady sales flowing week to week C)- there is no need to introduce a price cut.

Things will liven themselves. Speculation is just that.

if the price of the xbox 360 dropped by $50 or so, i dont think any game sony has coming out this fall or winter could help sony unless they also dropped their price, because ms's game lineup this fall/winter is so much better than sony is not fair for sony. tales of vesperia,infinite undiscovery,banjo & kazooie,gears of war2,last renmant,sacred2,halo wars,viva pinata2,fable2,age of conan,and many others. sony has a good lineup its just not as explosive as ms's. that's my opinion on the subject, if you agree thats cool if not thats also cool.

Well.... That is just silly.

The 360 is already cheaper than the PS3, and people don't buy it. So lowering the price further would just be Microsoft shooting themselves in the foot.

When the PS3 first released, or 6 months after, the two systems were at similar price points. This was not such a bad thing for Microsoft because the perceived value of the two consoles was the same in the eyes of your average consumer. Now the 360 is much less for certain sku's and is loosing almost in every region at a consistant basis.. Why?

Because the public has differentiate the two consoles.  It is Percieved that the more expensive console is the better one. Now that Blu-Ray is a known advantage of the PS3, people comfortably accept the fact that the system is the most expensive.

But Hypethetically, if Sony felt the pressure to drop the price again, they could. But only through the introduction of a new sku. fact is, even after the price cut Sony would still have their best sku between $400-$500.

And I won't try and argue your opinion since it is exactly that .. all I will say is that your opinion that the 360 has a better lineup is a very unique one, that very few wil share.
