Forums - Sony Discussion - PSN or XBOX Live?

Well, I'll have to wait for 2.40 but assuming everything in it works well, it's pretty even in my eyes.

XBL:
Tons of content
People actually chat with each other in-game
Great online-enabled game selection
XBLA

PSN:
Dedicated servers (fuck you, Microsoft)
Free
Full game purchases on PSN

I still prefer the layout of the Dashboard but the in-game XMB might change that. I really want to play around with it to see how Sony implements it all. I don't give two shits about Home and I really hope Sony doesn't force us to boot into the "game" to use some of the PSN features. I want to get into a game quick and dirty, not jump into a social program to organize a game with friends.

It's going to be strange to see when PSN is finally up to par with XBL, in terms of content, and overall appeal, if people are still willing to shell out fifty bucks a year (or eight bucks a month [that's what I do]) for XBOX live. Especially since PS3 (in terms of sales), will be up there with XBOX 360 soon, and as multi-plats are essentially the same across both consoles. The price of XBL may drive people away from games on the system if they're able to achieve the same experience for FREE.

Will MS make XBL free? one can only hope that PSN gets so good that MS has to. It'll save me ninety bucks per year.

Xbl is obviously better than psn because its came out the year before. it has advantage.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

2.4 won't make psn as good as xbl. all 2.4 will allow psn users to do is a type a message during a game. no confirmation of cross game chatting, invites, real-time profile info. i mean will we even be able to compare trophies with other users?? or can it only be viewed on our log-ins? so many minor things that xbl can do that psn WON'T be able to do unless psn get's an overhaul. although, for a free service, 2.4 is a very, very good addition, which is making me more and more reluctant to want to pay for xbl.

this is pretty much my thoughts exactly. Once 2.40 comes out (assuming that Sony doesn't f*** it up, and after 18 months, they'd better not...) the differences between XBL and PSN will be negligible at best (pretty much the only differences will be related to the fact that XBL has a 4-year head start on PSN) and certainly not enough (imho) to warrent paying $50/year for XBL when the PSN is free. If 2.40 does deliver the goods, you can kiss XBL goodbye unless M$ drops or eliminates the fee.

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

I don't even mind paying the $50 a year. That doesn't bother me.

What bothers me is that XBL is lacking dedicated servers like PSN. If MS did that and only that, I would probably shut up about it for awhile.

Still, MS has been pretty quiet about XBL recently. If they want people to continue shelling out money for the service, they need to seriously step up their game. IPTV, better movie/show selections, dedicated servers, integrated guilds and clans, etc. etc. etc.

is that really a good thing? The XBL community is still way to young to be talking online. Its like PC was in the first age of voice chat.

Basically what I mean by this is simply to many immature tards whining when they lose or talking themselves up like they are gods.

I just spent an hour looking for a video for PSN cry babies and whiners but found nothing... lol

CS;S has some nubs still but not many. With so many online gamers there are bound to be some 10 year olds whining about something.

I continually hear people bitch and moan about kids on XBL but I never hear them. It's not hard to avoid them if you spend some time buliding up a solid friend list and avoid pubs. It's not even really a problem in Halo 3 IMO.

Besides, I would have have one retard jabbering away (and mute him) while talking to the rest of my team on XBL than hear no one speak at all on PSN.

On top of that, every online game with voice chat has its fair share of retards. XBL is no different than any CS pub or PSN game (when people are talking, that is).

Seriously, the notion that people on PSN do not chat is simply not true. I play COD4 all the time and we have to chat to coordinate.
