Microsoft poised to buy SEGA?

Are you an avid Xbox 360 gamer? If so, chances are you are also a member of the ‘old’ SEGA faithful.

It’s no secret that when SEGA fell out of the hardware market, most of the devout fans of ‘home of the hedgehog’ pledged allegiance to the Xbox brand.

I was a fan of the old sega genesis games, yet I still bought a GC, Then a Wii, and now, I STILL Play my Wii more than my 360. I think this is a load of BS, but even so, I can't tell if it's sarcasm or retardation...

imagine a panzer dragoon rail shooter on wii that would be so awesome

Im sorry but it isn't a load of bullshit. Things might be different now but the original xbox had a very strong sega presense, you might not have bought the xbox for it, but a lot of people did at the time. Including myself.

Sega can make a hell of a lot of money supporting all platforms though...

It had million sellers on PS2, GC, and Xbox last gen. It has million sellers on DS, Wii, and will eventually have some on PS3 & 360. If they went 360 exclusive, I feel like Sega would actually be worth less as a company than it is now, but it would definitely help 360 and X720 especially.

SEGA still has a decent marketing team/brand image in Japan.

As I've said since the Yahoo deal was even made public, if it fell through, MS needed to acquire a big Japanese studio like Sega or Namco.

It would make MS viable for next-gen in Japan.

No it wouldn't. Sega's franchises are not console movers and barely sell decent numbers unless they are on the leading console. Yakuza, Battle of Valkyrie, Virtua Fighter etc.... all under performed greatly and barely helped the PS3 at all. Sega gain most revenue from US/EU but don't think that a Sega purchase will make Japan care about the 360 because it won't.

Sega can't make themselves viable in Japan let alone make Microsoft viable.

if this happens, i expect this

a couple of questions to consider, if this turns out to be true, what happens to all the sega ip's on wii virtual console?
Also what would be the price of sega-sammy to purchase?

Sega Makes more money making games on all systems. I can see them pulling a Take-Two and say No Thanks and personally hopefully.

Incert Witty Comment on how i'm a fanboy of all systems including PC here.

I happen to be part of the old Sega faithful and as a 360 owner this would be great for me but i don't see it as great for Sega.

Sega are doing too well on the Wii and that platform is perfect for them so being multi-platform is best for them.
