Forums - Sales Discussion - WHY DID MGS4 DO SO POORLY AGAINST HALO 3 ?

Well, let's see...
- Hype. Halo 3 is a huge title known even by casuals. And liked by casuals.
- The US. Most of Halo 3's sales have come from the US. Without the US it would fall to mere 'excellent' level instead of 'phenomenal'.
Need we more reasons?

while your at it, why not compare why the ds is outselling the x360 and ps3 why dontcha

For the same reason than any other game. They are just not good enough to sell as much as halo. ;)

There should have been a Metal Gear Solid 4 Breakfast cereal like there was for Halo...Im sure that was the difference...unfortunately Metal Gear Solid 4 : Guns of the Patriot did not fit on the box as neatly as HALO did. :D

PSN: TheGodofWine (Warhawk / R2 / MotorStorm PR)

AND

PSN: Skigazzi (for KZ2 and future games)

I wasn't aware they were competing :D Shit man, maybe MGS4 has time traveling capabilities x.x I better not wake up tomorrow remembering that I beat MGS4 months ago >

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

But wasn't PS3 domination scheduled for the MGS4 launch?

(before I get flamed, YES, I'm aware the PS3 has been outselling the 360 all year, but SOMEONE had to say it )

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Tag, courtesy of fkusumot: "Why do most of the PS3 fanboys have avatars that looks totally pissed?"
"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

Asking why MGS4 sold less than Halo 3 is like asking why several JRPG series(Star Ocean, Tales, SMT) sell less than FF and KH. Both questions have the same answer, because the mainstream aren't as interested in the former series as they are in the latter.

Because there are far less 12 year olds that play MGS..ohhh snap

 ^ that made me chuckle^

Casual >> Hardcore  for sales

Why did no more Nintendo's Fire Emblem do much worse than Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy? Probably becuase one is a high quality though relatively niche title, and the other a a flagship title for the console. Same thing with MGS4 vs Halo 3 (though MGS4 is admittedly much less niche than Fire Emblem is)

certanly halo was comerciales the most
