Forums - Gaming Discussion - I just beat Metal Gear Solid (PS1) for the first time....

I must say this game is one of my favorites of all time. I know.....I know...and I know I was late in the generation to play this game, but I was so late to get into the series because I didn't have interest in it in the past PS1 days.

The graphics were hard to look at because of how we are in the Xbox 360, PS3 gen. But looking at them were amazing.

I liked the boss battles especially the Sniper Wolf and the Metal Gear Rex boss battle. They were hard but I finally had some strategies on taking them down.

Certainly I feel that the final boss, Liquid Snake was a let down in my opinion. I mean I had 3 minutes to beat him and I retry that boss at least 5 times before killing him. And I finally did. Then he came back for a chase in a vehicle...like WTF!!!!

I loved this game, it must go down as the best game in video gaming history.

So ecurbj welcome back to 1998...lol

Now onto Metal Gear Solid 2 and then Metal Gear Solid 3 or I might just play Metal Gear Solid 4....

Dont play metal gear solid 4 yet, Id suggest going to 2 now.

You need to understand the story before you play 4.

(Though even if you knew in the series you'll catch on to the story and be amazed by the game)

hey..... at least you beat it *cries*

Play through the other two first - you'll definitely get a lot more out of 4 if you do.

MGS is one of the best PS games ever made, everyone should treat themselves to it if they like action and good gameplay!
Very ahead of its time and it ages very well, still highly playable and enjoyable to this day!

Well I beat Metal Gear Solid 2 already but that was just last year. I'm going to play through Metal Gear Solid 2 again so that I can refresh my memory on the story. But I do remember Solidus Snake as the final boss and I whipped his mother-fu*king ass...but I might just play through it again.

Awesome games and series. I'm thinking about getting Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops for the PSP. Because I know it has some input within the story of Metal Gear Solid right?

And do I have to play Metal Gear Acid or are those side games?

Part one is still the best in my mind...

they are actually very similar gampelay wise.
MGS2 was part 1 redone with better graphics and new lead character
MGS3 was similar gamplay but new elements such as healing
MGS4 seems to be graphics again, same gamplay stuff as seen is 2 and 3

Story is different ofcourse and amazing for all.

Dont get metal gear ACID its not that good..

Also you can head over the GT and save some time, watching the retrospectives can help you with the storyline.

I enjoyed MGS1, and I believe the gameplay in all sequels has stayed consistently excellent.

MGS2 is the dividing line between MGS fans and non-MGS fans.

So MGS2 was Metal Gear Solid 1 but redone on the PS2?!?!

For real so do I have to play that game to understand the story?
