Forums - Gaming Discussion - The 10 or 100% rating

I prefer 1-5.

Anything under 6 on a 1-10 scale is shit anyway, so why give them half of the numbers?

Gamespot 10 means PERFECT!

Oh ya if you go to school and get 100 on your test that means you did perfect on it you got 100%. Also ya a game can get a 10/10 but in my opinion we havent seen a game that deserves it. A game that gets 100% should be a game that is incredible everywhere, no problems, and one that makes you never have to buy another game.

HERE'S HOW YOU SHOULD INTERPRET REVIEW SCORES:

The number value represents how strongly the reviewer recommends you buy the game. A 10/10 or 100% means that reviewer believes you won't have a single regret should you buy the game.

It's all subjective, so it doesn't matter anyway :P

My End of 2008 Hardware Predictions (console only):

Wii : 50 million

360: 28 million

PS3: 24 million

These predictions were made on January 3rd and won't be revised

10 is not necessarily perfect. 10.0 most likely is perfect. 100 equals 10.0 and thus is most likely perfect.

10 is not perfect because 9.5 is rounded up to 10.

I prefer the letter's rating system from A+ to F.

That being said, I love PLAY magazine's review score system which says "Read the damn article!"

They should stop using 1-10 to grade games but instead use %.

No matter how much MGS might(don't have is so I don't know) deserve high grades it can't deserve a 100% score( no game does).

but if they give it a 96% 97% 98% or a 99% score people will atleast know it is avery very very good game.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Better than 9.

What the hell are people talking about, 10/10 is perfect. If anyone goes to school and gets a 10/10 on a test that means they got everything right and nothing wrong. Now the smaller of a window that people have to score the more leniency they have. For example if a critic has a thumbs up/thumbs (equivalent to a pass/fail score system in a class)down score then a thumbs up doesnt mean prefect. But in a world where most reviews have a 10 point system with at least half point increments, it is inexcusable to give a game 10/10 unless it is perfect. 0 = shit, 5= average and 10 = flawless.

The "10/10 is the best in its genre is pure crap" If MGS3 got a 10 and MGS 4 got a 10 how good is MGS3 in relativity to 4. If an mgs like game(Splinter Cell maybe?) now gets a 9.8 does that mean its better than MGS3 seeing that MGS3's 10 is no longer as valued due to the fact that MGS4 got a 10. Its a complete catastrophe and ass backward thinking.

For the record I use MGS just as an example and am not shitting on any particular game.

 This is completely wrong.

If you can't give a game a 10/10 because that means it is perfect, then what is the point of including 10 in the score? So the maximum a game can score is 9/10, so there is no need for it to be out of 10. You might as well make it out of 9 and give the maximum as 9/9. But then 9/9 means it is perfect, so you can only give a maximum of 8/9. So then there is no point in scoring it out of 9. This cycle continues until you get to 0.

So 10/10 does not mean perfect, it means the best in its genre at the time of release, or pushing the boundaries of the genre really far.

I respectfully disagree. I would first like to point you to the second paragraph in my rant. Secondly, why cant a game be prefect? Sure  it is improbable, but not impossible. Thats the way it should be. A game doesnt need unlimited replay value or the greatest graphics of all time or even wildly original controls to be perfect. Your 9/9 arguement is kind of like the article written here by RocketPig(great article and Tap reference if you read this RocketPig). Most people rate games on the 10 point scale with .5 intervals, which is great enough to judge any game. Does MGS deserve a 10, I actually wouldnt be suprised(I have only played MGS1 and VR Missions) that it does, but many games are having 10's thrown at them undeservingly........ I'm looking at you SMG, GTAIV and Halo.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
