Forums - Nintendo Discussion - FE: Radiant Dawn WORSE than FE: Path of Radiance?

It took me 45 hours to beat Path of Radiance and that wasn't even including all the times I reset the game to save characters. It was satisfying omewhat to complete and I was curious as to how Radiant Dawn was.

Reveiwers (I know I  know) said that the graphics in RD and the exact same as PoR and even have the same presentation. The gameplay is nothing short of "punishing" and the story wasn't as good as the one in PoR. I know Rolf has a bigger role in the 2nd one so I like it already, but is RD actually worse than PoR?

Please don't tell me they took out the cutscenes too...

The graphic is better in radiant dawn, but not by a long standard...

Battle animations in radiant dawn are actually fluid now (or at least most of them). unlike in PoR where they characters were pretty much all blocky. Also the game tends to last longer then PoR and is much harder.

The only bad thing about RD when compared to PoR that I can think of is that the support conversations took a heavy beating.

They are both great games, one has small advantages over the other and vice the versa.

lol, no. 20 more levels and a much better story/endgame make Radiant Dawn a much better game, imo.

My favorite game this generation so far.

...and there are about 4 or 5 really welldone cutscenes if I remember.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

The main issue is Laguz being kinda feeble. They level too slow and they're too vulnerable when they're human.

Oh, and I really dislike some of the music.

The game is awesome, according to what I've seen (I've seen someone play PoR, but never played it myself), Radiant Dawn looks a bit better, but not a lot.

The story is awesome, perhaps my favourite so far this gen, so no problems there. It isn't fully as good as PoR though (according to most people here)

The game is a bit unfair if you're stupid. You have to prepare for everything, and if you leave your mages/priests alone, they could easily be in trouble.

The game was too hard for many reviewers, as they played their first playthrough on normal/hard, and thus thought it was unfair.

Battle saves are a great addition, you understand what these are.

The cutscenes are still in. There's around 12 of them I believe.

The music is awesome.

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

Well RD tooks the story and the characters deeper..I liked that.

RD was harder..
They are almost the same game but there are also differences..

I liked both very much

Honestly, I thought that Path of Radiance was the better game. Certainly the pacing of the game is much better. (Radiant Dawn leaps back and forth from really hard to really easy.) I also really did not like the constant swapping between different parties in the Wii game - but many others thought that was brilliant. Your mileage may very.

Radiant Dawn is much more cinematic: more story-driven, less control over your own party (which is pretty much dictated by the plot). It's not a style that I particularly like. I'll stop here because I could go on for ages.

I prefered PoR. It was more consistent and didn´t let characters become overpowerful (level, weapons, skills, stat-boosting items). Laguz´s potential was also downplayed in RD, although I still used some of them and made them efficient enough.

Both games are superb! The story of PoR is a little bit better, but the gameplay of RD is better. The cutscenes in RD are very beautiful, nicer than in PoR.
The game graphics are not great, but the game doesn't need good graphics to be amazing. Definitely the hardest game currently available on the current gen consoles.
