Forums - Sony Discussion - How many MGS4 pre-orders did your Gamestop get?

I was at two different Gamestops today and checked to see how many MGS4 pre-orders they got. The first store had over 300 pre-orders. The second store had around 200. I thought that was pretty impressive for Indiana Amishville.

I almost cancelled my pre-order because I'm fed up with Sony right now...no good JRPG's in the forseeable future (and don't even mention Valkyria Chronicles (A WWII Strategy RPG) or Disgaea 3 (Another STRATEGY RPG with worse graphics than some of my psp JRPGs). But then they talked me into keeping my pre-order. I've never played a MGS4 game before (because I only play---JRPG's ) so they said to just give it a try...worse comes to worse I can sell it on ebay for a good price early on if I don't like it.

In a sense--MGS is like an rpg,in that it is very story-driven.Hope you like it.

That's alot of pre-orders. I was thinking most would have around 50 or so. Gonna be a crazy week next week.

Yeah, the MGS series does have a jRPG-esqe story element to it.  You will probably enjoy it.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

7, three of which are the LE.

Of course, our store only opened two weeks ago. Nobody even knows about us!

Edit: And you should like MGS4, given that the game is very story driven.  While you haven't played MGS 1-3, from what I understand during cutscenes it gives you the option to have flashbacks of sorts, giving you background info on what's going on, to help the uninitiated such as yourself.

Edit 2: And be warned, the gameplay will probably be very confusing at first (despite it's "reinvention" for MGS4), and it will take a while to get used to. Don't give up, as it's totally worth it in the end.  I started the MGS saga with MGS3, and the first few hours of the game were a pain, but by the end of it I had a good grasp of what I could and could not get away with, and the game was a blast.  MGS1/2 were just as great throughout, as I already knew what I could do.

Thanks for the info, I'm glad to hear about the flashbacks...I'll give it a fair shake. I hope I like it...I need a good gaming spirit lifter. But, lol, if that doesn't work, I'll get refreshed in a couple weeks...Heading up to Canada to go fishing for two weeks...remote Cabin you can only get to by boat and no people within miles--just bears and timberwolves...no electricity or plumbing even!
