why do you think the ps3, xbox 360, and the Wii, are still regarded as "next gen" even though they've been out for a year and a half, and the 360's been out 2 and half years.

at least my thread wasn't exactly the same but it's pretty close. damn....

Because people are stupid, this is now the current gen.

coz the ps2 is still alive and kicking with support from 1st, 2nd and 3rd party game publishers. which makes the ps2 the only current gen console

in my opinion, the ps2 is now last gen, but it is still alive and kicking, i have to agree with that

It's a marketing term, it sounds cool, so they'll keep using it.
