If you looked at Microsoft at a whole recently, you'd realize that they are up to something no good for that matter.
At first they tried to help HD-DVD win to pro-long the format war, Trying to make it's console into a multi-media system like the PS3, The immediate 1 Billion in cash to fix those 40% broken 360's to keep the fanbase happy, The 50 million DLC payout for GTA4, the securing of japanese exclusives, moving away from FPS and into family friendly games, the rumor of an apparent Wii-like remote control which is now trying to be like the Wii...
Is it just me or is Microsoft willing to copy anyone just to be #1 in the gaming world? Trying to bring the both of best worlds by being a multi-media center, a family friendly device, and now a motion sensing console to court people who want a change in gaming culture, which the Wii has done.
Not just that, but look at their other past instances of trying to take over other companies role as #1:
- The Zune, trying to be #1 because IPOD is having all the mp3 fun and they want a piece of the pie. When that didn't work because Apple is too far ahead, now they want to make the Zune-Phone and Zune-Touch to keep up with apple??
- The attempt to buy out Facebook so they can have that "Myspace" like social networking site since they realized it's getting huge and can earn revenue, but only got a measly 5% of it.
- The attempt to buy out Yahoo for Billions so they can be #1 and compete against Google but they didn't take the bait
- Their attempts to start their own movie production company and wanting to finance "Halo" as their first project??
- Their attempt to start their own record label when they tried to sign that stupid rapper who i forgot his name was
Either their ambition is to take over the tech world, trying to be the next Sony, or their trying to find other sources of revenue to finance the company because with Vista being trashed by the public and Apple aggressively poking fun at it with those funny commercials for people to switch to Mac, it's obvious they are in some sort of trouble :). That's what you get for trying to be a monopoly
