Forums - Gaming Discussion - LOL, Who thinks that XBOX 360 J-RPG announcement infuriated Japanese Gamers

I dont understand what S-E is actually going to get out of this. Sure Microsoft will pay them loads of money, but they lose fanbase in both Europe and Japan for this. They tried this method before and its already been proven hopeless. If people aren't buying the PS3 in Japan they arent going to buy a 360, lol.

But hell, Square-Enix wants to ruin all their IP's to please Microsoft then let them do it. 360 owners in NA arent going to buy that shit, so they just blew one of their biggest IP's for a little cash. All they have left now is Final Fantasy, unless they start dropping a lot more new IPs. I would atleast think they would release this game on the Wii if not the PS3.

Just like with the Final Fantasy movie, SE is determined to destroy their company. Im pretty sure Sony isnt going to bail them out this time though

Oooooh.. the great Sony... who are they grooming to replace their long lost Square Enix then?

OT: I think it pissed off alot more VGCharterz who are PS3 exclusive (who by the way a large majority dont come from Japan).

Only infuriate PS3 fanboys...Gamers go where the games are. If the PS3,X360, or Wii have he games, then thats where they go. The infuriation is only by those that wished their system of choice had the games they wanted.

It infuriates every Japanese gamer. They don't want anything to do with Microsoft since they have nothing to look forward to except GOW2. Plus, this ain't gonna help the 360 in Japan also since the TLR is also on PS3, they could wait for that version.

I never knew you were the posterchild and spokesman for the entire Japanese gaming community.

Good to know.

Oh, the bitterness of some Sony-fans. Like the OP.

Haha it's so funny how many people this is pissing of. Ya, Japan is playing there handhelds and don't really care about PS3 either.

Or Maybe the japaneese are playing JRPGs on the DS out of lack of choice , it's well known they hate the 360 unconditionaly. If the PS3 had a similar sized libary of JRPGS as the DS did then I don't think it would be the gaming device of choice for JRPG's.

huh?

I'm lost.. I think... so Japan doesn't like video games?

I can't wait for FFXIII to be released on the PS3 userbase in japan, just to see it sell 3 million copies in Japan, and have 0 hardware boost. IMO the japan install base would have to be 3 million.

I'm falling further to the belief that the people who are buying the Ps3 and Xbox360 not only know what they want, they know exactly what title they want - GTAIV is kinda proving that, but I guess I will wait and see.

Good luck hauling that PS3 with you to play on the train during the commute to and from work/school.

The dedication you show to any particular console or company is inversely proportional to the number of times you have gotten laid. If you get laid enough, even if you prefer a certain brand, you just don't give enough of a shit to argue about it on the internet.

S-E gets cash in hand from M$ to fund FFXIII while they dump Infinite Undiscovery on 360. I guesss buying over sakaguchi wasn't enough after all.

Fanboys posses superhuman strength so carrying a PS3 and an 40" HD TV and a power supply on a train is cake for them.

Mil. Sellers:

Wii:      25 titles       101.4 mil total    avg 4 mil per title

PS3:     14 titles      28.6 mil total    avg ~2 mil per title

360:     41 titles      89.8 mil total   avg  >2 mil per title

I agree with the OP. People seem to think that gamers in Japan are not interested in consoles anymore but I think it has more to do with the fact that the only japanese-oriented games are on Xbox360. Wii does well over there but it's with the expanded audience and Nintendo fans. I think that what Microsoft is doing is hurting PS3 but the Japanese companies are hurting Japanese gaming.
