Well, my French isn't that good, but I'm pretty sure it only states reaching 1M or passing 1M, so where they get the extra 50k units from is unclear to me.
Also this isn't really a reliable source, both the part of some insider at Sony and the site which seems to be a PS3 site. So far most numbers we did get from tracking firms were closely equal to the numbers at VG charts. So even if the 1M is real, then it is still very unclear in which part of Europe the VG numbers are wrong. I think VG charts has all of Europe at about 800-850k now, which means 1M could actually be the number sold to retailers as well.

And as far as we know, so is this source. It explicitly says to wait for confirmation, which means its an approximation at best, a guesstimate at worst.

PAL PS3 Sells 1 Million

Sony has spoken exclusively to MCV this week about its robust PlayStation 3 launch – offering an official sales update and a unique insight into its software strategy for Q4.

The console was launched on March 23rd and has sailed past the one million milestone in Europe and other PAL territories in under ten weeks.

David Reeves, SCEE president, chose MCV to stress that the figure is for sell-through rather than sell-in and hugely impressive in a historical context. “Early last week we went through the one million mark on PS3. And we did that in nine and a half weeks,” he confirmed.

“That was faster than both PS2 and PSOne. And I think that the analysts out there will also realise that it’s faster than our brothers and sisters in the competitive world.”

In terms of software sales, Reeves claimed that around two million units of first party software have been sold into the channel, with Resistance: Fall of Man notching up around 600,000 units and Motorstorm edging past the 500,000 mark.

Then why the heck all the other websites say under 1 milion for others, including Europe? Gosh, speaking of fanboys... got the feeling we're dealing with a second Hus around here.

I don't hate the PS3 at all! If the thing will cost lower, has way less power and is twice as less the size it is now plus a bunch of nice games I'll import myself one from Japan right away! It are the PS3 fans I can't stand, who think they're more superb then other console gamers.

It's funny to see how much interrest the PS3 generates, good and bad.

I myself couldn't care less about Wii or X360. The Wii I think is a piece of junk and the X360 is great console but I'm not interrested.

I never ever comment on X360 or Wii forums, why should I care about doing that?
Many of you guys are on a mission to infest the PS3 forums and spam as much anti Sony stuff you can. I could also go over to the Wii forums and spam crap everyday. But I don't cause I'm not interrested.

So, like I said, it's funny to see how interrested in the PS3 everyone is.

So based on VGChartz and this data:

Resistance: Fall of Man so far sold around:

(Americas) 697,646 + 600,000 (PAL regions) + Japan (122,078) + Unknown (other areas) = around 1.5 Million units

Motorstorm:

Americas (288,459) + PAL regions (500K+) + Japan (64,329) + Unknown = around 850K

IMO not bad! It seems Motorstorm sold a lot better in Europe, it was topping many European charts beating Resistance: Fall of Man during launch in many countries.

damn right.

i do my best to stay the hell out of thier forums since i believe the wiis is a joke, yet they do nothing but come here to troll and whine. They hate the console yet they clearly can't get it out of their head.

funny aint it, just shows how the wii fanboys really are.
