Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft to turn Blu Monday?

Who cares if microsoft makes a blu ray 360 that would be cool i would not hurt them in anyway....?

I really don't understand why they would announce such a thing tomorrow. If they announce a 360 sku with blu-ray too long in advance, they'll hold off consumers wanting to buy a 360 and a lot of the current 360 owners will be frustrated that they didn't have Blu-Ray and paid as much as those who did.

Also, it doesn't make sense to try to steal the show from Apple with such an announcement. The public for the iphone has nothing to do with that of the 360. It won't steal the attention at all.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Bluray players sell way less then PS3 many own PS3 to play Bluray exclusively my brother in law just bought a 40 gig ps3 to play movies on his 1080p tv my daughters friends have one for the same reason.

Last I checked the PS3 is the cheapest PS3 player to get, It helps Sony and MS to switch over and the bluray players will still play dvds so its probably software related but current games on dvd format will play and the new disks will be made to work on old 360's and new.

This would just be another dumb move similar to the xmote. They would be smarter to create a new SKU that takes standard SATA harddrives.

So if this and the xmote are true, we could have 8 SKUs. Arcade, Pro, Elite, BR with and without the xmote. Yeah, this would go over well.

I hope it's true. MS bowing down to the superior. Surrender to defeat MS :P 360 fans this is humilating to MS - Sony won this one :D and now BR will be able to go further - faster. LOL at MS fans who say BR is not needed or sucks :P

Just how it's humilating for Sony to put windows on their labtops right?

Seriously, grow up fanboy.

Whether the BR 360 is founded or not remains to be seen--time will tell.  One thing, however, is that GAMES, not systems that may be better than the others in certain aspects than their counterparts, will go down in the game history books.  The start of the HD gen is a good one Sony and Microsoft combined.

Honestly, having been down the 360 road before, knowing first-hand how they flip-flop on their stances (bought an HDMI-less 360 a couple days before Elite announced, yeah...) it wouldn't surprise me that they'd jump on the blu-ray bandwagon too. However, it doesn't make sense why a company who is soon to turn their division profitable for the first time would adopt something that would put them even more into the red.

With that said, if this "news" excites you, then good for you. If it's true, it would make more sense for it to be an add-on than a built-in drive, but I hope for the sake of the current install-base of the 360 that it's an add-on.

All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be.

this is good for sony(they get paid and the format will be pushed further)and microsoft will give their customers what they want,,,,,but there is no way in hell that they could have the price advantage over ps3.

I would say that maybe they don't want a price advantage on Blu ray.

Its as much a psychological move as it is a move to capture the Blu ray market segment. Its a halo effect thing - They can give the perception of value for the Pro and Arcade SKUs by keeping the price of the Elite high and giving it Blu ray to increase its value. Its to make people think that the Pro model is of the same quality and capability of the PS3 but without the pricetag for the Blu ray. Im not saying that they aren't close in capabilities, but sometimes its good to play on perceptions.

Tease.
