Ninja Gaiden 2 not so HD

Beyond3D does the maths.
The Ninja Gaiden 2 demo has been released on the Japanese Xbox 360 Marketplace, and like clockwork has brought out the technical gurus to analyse the game's 'native' resolution.

According to Beyond3D, Ninja Gaiden 2 runs at a resolution of only 1120x585, or 585p. While right now this figure is only for the demo, major factors like rendering resolution rarely change between demo and retail game - for example, the Haze demo's resolution of 576p ended up being the same as in the final game. The way these games get away with it is that they're 'up-scaled' by the machine post-rendering to whatever the console is set at, much like an up-scaling DVD player does with an SD video image.

Whatever the pixel count, Ninja Gaiden 2 will be released in the coming weeks and you can expect a review from PALGN shortly after release.

sorry if this article has been posted before, i looked in the forums and couldnt find it!

do you think the retail game will have 585p resolution or 720p. this will be a good game though, but im wondering why they could not use a base like sigma and improve on it.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Wow ,I didnt expect this.Specially since Ninja Gaiden Sigma on the PS3 is 1080p and the visuals arent so far apart.

I'm surprised it took so long for someone to post this considering how some people jumped on some other sub-hd games.

I also did not expect this to happen, since i thought they would have been able to render at least 720p for this game on the 360 if they managed 1080p on the PS3 with NGS...

I'm sure the game will be great anyway so this shouldn't be held against it!

didnt expect i,wasnt it higher for ps3's NGS?

Surprising, since Sigma was 720p. A little embarassing for Microsoft, they originally mandated that every 360 game would be at least 720p with 4xAA. But who really cares? People obsess over this kind of thing far too much.

IIRC, Sigma uses a new engine, while NG2 uses an updated engine from NG.  I could be wrong about that though.

The retail version will be 720p. (maybe not "natively") But these native resolution tests are really just a bunch of shit. Its so silly.
Has the Beyond3D resolution testing always existed?
Have they always been around this entire gen?

It seems to me, the whole native resolution crap has only peered its ugly face since Halo 3.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

Isn't that like 9 pixels more than what the wii is  in pal regions. Wii grafixs/sarcasm. I personally don't give a grap about resolution when the game has good graphics.

As you can see Ninja Gaiden 2 is much (MUCH) more detailed which could result in the need to have a lower resolution
