Forums - Sony Discussion - what are the best emulators that can work for the PSP?

What are worthwhile emulators to put on the PSP?

And what are some good games for these emulators?

bump

I'm actually pretty curious about this as well. Currently, I only use my custom FW for PS1 games.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

well, i know that the GBA can be emulated because my friend has it on his PSP

The scummVm works allowing people to play old lucasarts adventure games, such as the secret of monkey island.

Problem here is that emulating games isn't exactly legal. It's not too sexy either. OP can get banned for this thread. Read your rules, people.

Bullshit. Emulators are perfectly legal as long as they are done by reverse engineering. ROMs are what can get you in trouble, but sometime they can be perfectly legal, such as abandonware.

Anyways to answer OP; SNES/Genesis era and anything before that is just about perfect, along with just about any handheld less powerful than the DS. Basically, just browse through the emulator section of a PSP site and try different emulators. Ones that have been updated recently are usually the best.

Wow. This is my place ____. You just put me in it.

It is best not to mention emulation. Soriku and I did once but we were both nearly banned from this site because of it.

My advice is don't steal games. There are plenty of great games available for PSP legally. Also the game "Sega Genesis collection" takes away about 1/3 of the reason to even emulate.
