Forums - Gaming Discussion - I am truly annoyed at the wii

So i have been hearing about how the wii is revolutionizing game play and that all things will go the way of the wii.

This makes me sad.  I personally don't like miis (they are creepy), i am sick of mario and I dont need to work out in front of the frickin tv (since I spend to much time in front of it anyway).

dont get me wrong,  If you love nintendo, then yay!  you have the most popular system...hurrah hurrah!

But don't make the MGS and the GTA and the Gears of War and the Oblivion and all the great games go away.  What if everyone jumps on the idea of copying the wii and all these games are gone because they are too expensive to produce and you can produce carnival games for a lot less and sell 10 million copies?!?  Is anyone else afraid of this?  Am I the only one?  I could care less if sony or MS or wii actually 'wins' the console war.  I do care about having the games i love to play available...and they certainly aren't wii striper pole dance or wii cheerleading or mario dating or carnival games.

Anyone else worried?  I guess there is always pc gaming if only nintendo and nintendo sycophants remain...

Open your mind a bit... A good game is a good game no matter the platform.

Oh, there's plenty of others afraid of drowning in Nintendo's Blue Ocean. Acceptance of the overshooting of the market is always a hard thing for those thoroughly immersed in that market. Don't worry, though, the style of games we saw growing into prominence during the last 13 or 14 years won't just vanish. It will simply become niche, and likely have smaller budgets from now on due to the unjustifiable expenses involved in making games the way they have been.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

You don't have to be worried, by the end of the disruption you will be happier than before.

Do you hear anyone complaining about how Digital cameras have taken over their precious chemistry-based ones?

Are you sad that MP3 has almost outdone the CD?

And there will be a place for the upmarket games for a while longer.

No, the real danger to these games, I feel, is that they are starting to cost more than they bring in. They are, I fear, destined to soon crumble under their own weight.

This is invisible text!

Large games are just large mini games anyway. ;)

i am not disputing that these arent good games for others, they are not good games for me. If my only choice was the wii, i would choose another hobby.

And PS360 games are not inferior, outdated games. Comparing MP3 to CD vs Wii to PS360 is not the same because there is innovation possible on those systems just in a different way.

I do think expense is going to kill the market for the games i enjoy.

Not all of the wii games are as you say. Look at games like Battalion Wars or Fire Emblem. Not all nintendo games are mario. The controls don't require as much effort as you think. Play some wii games, and I'm pretty sure you will like it somewhat.

Btw the same thing happened before. When the ps1 was released many new people came. Games started to be easier, and everybody cried that it was too easy. Most games tried to be "Mature" also. Everybody thought the old games would be no more, but they are still here. They thought the new games would be too easy and bad, but they were actually pretty good. A new way to play doesn't mean there is no old way.

WHile the wii does have alot of games like the ones you mentioned, it also has alot of games that may target you.

Waste of time to read this, really.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Ugh... the dreaded cut scenes from PS1 games... that's an innovation I'm glad mostly died.

How many copies did fire emblem sell? Battalion wars?

My point is that it seems like all those games could go away because publishers are going to say, lets make a sports mini game with Mii's and forget RPG or FPS or Action games because they don't sale if mario or zelda is not in them. Its not just ps360games, it could be the few games i would enjoy on the wii would die out too to make the next wii fit
