starcraft would commit suicide if Gears of War 2 fails to outsell Gears of War LTD

 Eh, I really think you are compairing Apples to Oranges. Halo =/= Gears of War in any sence. Besides that, one was a launch title (Halo) of a console that didnt sell well by any barometer, and the other (Halo 2) came in late in the consoles life. Of course sales are going to be a little wonky between the two. 

Im not saying it isnt going to sell well, because there are always people that want Game X that is just an updated version of Game Y, but I dont think this title will push past its originator, I personally beleave that a little game called Call of Duty 4 changed peoples opinions on what a shooter can be. It even slew the mighty Halo dragon.

I dont know, maybe Im being optimistic that people will start demanding innovation between sequels and true original experiences, especially from a company as guilty of giving us version 1.5s of games over and over like Epic.

 I think the issue with Gears 2 is that, despite the actual innovation, it's caught in a "perfec storm". Exactly what game this holiday season is going to be as hyped as it is, for then 360? No Halo. A weak COD game (most likely), and lots of FPS fans that are hungry for a new installment.

When you have a lack of competition for a given genre for a year on a system, and the genre is staffed by a fanbase that demands a good, top-tier title that Christmas, a game lacking innovation will do just fine provided the actual content is top-notch. What did Resistance 1 offer that was so groundbreaking? It offered tweaks here and there, but nothing earth-shattering. Yet it's sold reasonably well. 

If the Xbox360 started outselling the PS3 again week by week worldwide, you would buy a gun and walk into your local best buy and start shooting.

What? lol, no, just no. There are loads of 360/gears fanboys who bought and loved the first and this will most likely be no different.

Your out of your god damn mind, Killzone 1 was a joke, it was OKAY but it didn't deserve more than a 7, oh what's that? Gears got 9's? wow.

I could imagine this thread if Gears of War 2 was on the PS3.

Based upon your logic, Gears of War 2 will sell just as much as he first game.  Halo3 was more of the same of Halo 2, which was more of the same of Halo ... and they sold 8, 8, and 7 million respectively.

I'm going to agree with the assessment that Gears 2 will reach 5 million sales before the ned pof the year if its released in November.

 Actually comparing them is quite fair, They are both xbox exclusives, both are shooters and while one was the marque series of the xbox the other looks to be the "halo" of the 360. Also you just proved yourself wrong by saying that Halo 2 obviously got more sales then Halo 1 because there were more consoles out there due to it coming "late in the console life". The same thing (to a lesser extent) can be said between Gears 1 and Gears 2. Gears 2 will release to market with MUCH more 360's, how could it possibly not exceed Gears 1 sales (unless it was a huge bomb).

Also about Halo and Gears, I only brought up Halo because it was the biggest difference I can remember, there are plenty of franchises in which the successor sells more than the predecessor (but of course the same can be said going to other way).
