Yeah, we should have addmited long ago in this thread, that it is a anti-sony thread... (or at least became one) and the world hates sony, and the PS3 sucks. And sony sucks, and everything from sony sucks.

F*King a guys. Troll some more, This is crazy. I hate to say it, but lock this thread.

Uh...it was a pro-Sony thread until some guys insinuated that Sony could buy SE.  That's just ridiculous, and they won't accept the fact that that's impossible.  Nobody's trolling, just arguing stupidly.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

You are such an arrogant ass.

I have over a six figure income and have chose to own the least expensive system out there. However I put $300 into a 360 and games for my bros this xmas, bought them a $1000 computer last xmas. I could easily buy all three systems and 5 games each (granted ps3 does not have 5 good games). I, as most people, just don't see the logic in paying $700 after taxes and a game to play a video game. It's just stupid and sheep mentality. I would rather spend a quality day with my family going to movies, zoo, chucky cheese, and so on, then blow $700 on an overpriced, bulky, pos.

As you can tell this type of mentality pisses me off. I grew up very poor and always wanted the 'cool' toys. My parents did what they could and got me a NES when I was little and I usually only got a game on bdays and xmas. Other than that I worked my little ass off for neighbors to get cash to buy games. Since then I have always worked a fulltime job and put myself through college so my children won't have to struggle as much. Then to see little assholes who probably don't know what real responsibility is talk about people being too poor to buy a PS3. Do you own a house? College Degree? 2 new cars? with wife and 3 children? Suck my poor non-ps3 owning balls!!

When was the last time you took your family to a $229 a night resort in Sedona, AZ for the weekend so you could let your kids ride on "Thomas the Tank Engine" and take a 2nd train the next day to spend the day at the Grand Canyon? That is a much better time than the PS3.

[sarcasm] Oh yes we all want the console you want just because YOU want us to [/sarcasm]

Nobody is telling you what consoles you want, you cant tell us what we want.

Alright, Blue3's been told, let's move on. Well said, superchunk.

uhhh maybe some people dont realize how big a corporation Sony is. Sony has its hand in damn near all fields.

Control large portion of the Console Market and about a 3rd of the portable console market.
PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3

TV's
Bravia series, Grand Wegas, Projectors

Phones (home), Cell phones
Sony Ericcson

Computers
Vaio laptops, workstation

General Consumer electronics
MP3 players

Digital Camera's
Sony CyberShot series

Home Securities

Sony does have cash to buy a large developer. Although they would lose a large sum of their worth, it would also be a large gamble on their part. But it is possible for them to buy SE.

Sony doesn't really have the cash to buy SE, at least not safely. Sony only has around $4 billion cash. Nintendo has $5-7 billion cash. Microsoft has $37 billion cash.

And as others have mentioned, it makes no sense to buy SE because a lot of their profits come from non-Sony systems.

Yes, we all know that Sony is a multi-billion dollar corporation with many divisions.  But no, it cannot buy SE.  SE is one of the biggest game developers out there.  Not without severely cutting down parts of their own company, and buying SE wouldn't make any sense anyway.

No one is denying that they are a large company, but they are also having some current financial problems.  Remember that last quarter SCE actually created so much deficit that it outweighed the quarterly profit of the entire Sony corporation.  They cannot afford a large business take over right now.  It's not only a bad business decision, it would be one that could easily doom the corporation.

SE's market cap is 347 billion yen.

 so that $ 2,851,003,000

51 is control right, and Sony already owns 8% so 43% is needed that would cost 1.2 billion.

unless i screwd up the numbers or aomethin.

Whats so impossible about that ?
