Developers care about two things. Making money, and making something that has never been done before.

if your a software developer, and want to make a great living, the last place you go is into the gaming industry. The medical field, or consulting work will make you a lot more. You do it because you are passionate about what you do.

The reason games are made on the PS3 and 360, and not the more profitable Wii, is because the power of the systems allows developers to make something new and exiting.

If it was all about money, all games going forward would be Wii games.

It's not all about the money.

 Yes, it's a joke.

As for the multiple disk thing, most of the space used was for audio. If you compressed the hell out of it, you could knock it down to a few disks, I am sure.

Plus, MGS is a linear style game, so breaking it up on multiple disks would not be that big of a deal.

With that being said, MGS4 will probably never see the 360. 



I couldn't care less. I'd probably prefer it on the PS3, i'm used to the Sony control anyway. :D

I agree, reasons:

1. MGS has always been on PS consoles (exept the crap original NES)

2. It would be on 4-5+ disks

3. MGS is huge in japan and PS3 (2.10 mil) is way better off than 360 (0.61 mil) in Japan

4. 360 has RRoD (lol had to mention it)

You don't actually have to like the game though Starcraft, if I remember correctly Onimusha started an RE5 to Wii petition without being a fan of the series or having any desire to play the game even if it came to Wii. It's just all about the console wars baby.

I don't actually see the point in making PS3 exclusives right now. Even if you want it to sell zillions, it won't pass 360 this year and exclusives will not sell 10x more in 2 years than they do now.
Making exclusives for 360 has made sense and still does, though soon it won't make sense either.

Why would a company cut it's revenues by half when the systems sell equally?

The only exclusives that we should see in the future are Wii exclusives, the rest multiplat.... at least that is what i'd do if I were in charge of those projects.

I think its better when consoles have exclusive games because its usually the exclusive games which show off the power of the console. Come on lets be really honest now, if GeOW 2 or another x360 exclusive was originally going to be multiplat the game would not have looked as good as it did because half of the development time would have to go on the other console(s) aswell.

Pluss because of the ps3's architecture, the engines used to build the games for the ps3 need to be specially adapted.

If a game is going ps360 the ps3 will tend to lose out on performance being as the cell is hard enough to program for without having to create an engine that works with the very adaptable x360 aswell.


For example, a developer makes a game called XXX. From the start its going to be multiplat. They build an engine that works for both consoles but dont do the tweaks needed for the ps3.

The finnished product looks worse on both consoles being as the ps3 was made harder to program for because of said engine and the x360 could not be fully polished because of the time spent on the ps3.

Last thought, what multiplat game looks better then the upcoming exclusives to each console.
