Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Will DiRT take the Rallying crown from Motorstorm?

I would love to see a RalliSport Challenge 3.

there are a few bugs on motorstorm that allow issues to arrise. The tracks in motorstorm are made to make the fast cars go the long way, and the slow vehicles go the short way. The tapping bug, (to be fixed this week if I'm not mistaken) allows the heavier vehicles to become the fastest vehicles. Once that is fixed, the game will become balanced and heavy things will be slower than light things. But the light things loose speed in the mud, so they cant go the short way. I honestly dont think Motorstorm looks that great, and DiRT looks better. However for those of you who didnt understand what I said. I said ARCADE style racing. That means pointless stupid, senseless, and fun, and ofen enough frustrating. I never said simulator. The physics model/handling is more simulator than not... But it's not a real life simulator. It's a motorstorm simulator. What I mean is, the controls are true to life, if there was slighly less gravity, vehicles respawned, and pointless races to the death... only to respawn. Then yes, it would be a simulator.

Really I think motorstorm just has great racing mechanics, and a concept of do anything it takes to win, including ram that son of a bitch off the road. :D

but yeah. That's that. I love motorstorm, it's my favorite racing game ever. If you could customize vehicles like you can in GT, I would consider it near impossible to beat.

Heavy Racing are mostly on tracks.

Truck are also present in rally and in this case, cars are faster. When a car do a scratch time of around 7 minutes, truck do around 9. Around 20% difference.

Tons of power, right, but also tons of weight, and in sand or mud, it's not always the best thing.

my friend stripped off about 300lbs of crap off his tracter. they are easy to lighten up do to the fact you dont have to tow a trailer anymore so you can remove partically the who trailer hitch setup which weighs a good few hundred pounds.

AS for the original question, I doubt it Motorstorm looks to me like a funner game then the demo of dirt was, Motorstrom is a bit more like excite truck which can be a bunch of fun

Ok, I downloaded Dirt last nite and played the demo. Admittedly I have only played the Motorstorm demo also, but I must say that Dirt vs. Motorstorm is nothing but fanboyism on display. Motorstorm, graphically, is pretty impressive. So is Colin Mcrae. Period. Both games are graphically beautiful. They play a little differently but overall they are both entertaining for people who like rally-style games and in general like off-road-type racing. I do and I like them both. Anyone who says either game is crap needs to have their head examined because that just isn't the case. Get over the fanboyism, everyone, and just enjoy your games.

IGN UK has reviewed colin mcrae dirt and gives it a 9.0 "outstanding". Fairly decent review... www.ign.com if you want to read it.

Personally, I liked Excite Truck despite its lack of online and courses more than Motorstorm. I still pick up and play Excite Truck to this day and I've had it since probably mid December-ish because it's good quick fun. As for Dirt, I still haven't had a chance to try it but it definitely looks promising.
