Let me make this clear, if 3rd parties stop making the games you like, Nintendo would only be the cause of that if they offered something that the buyers of those games like better than those games themselves.

Otherwise, it would be something like escalating costs, or market saturation, which Nintendo would have nothing to do with.

they will stop making the games i like because they will be making more money making games i dont like as much. It will be profitable to these 3rd parties to make a fun with smaller developmant cost on a bigger userbase. look at this : mario and sonic : 4 million sold, soso game , probably cheap to make equals to tons of profit for sega Uncharted: beautiful, best game on ps3, expensive to make , sold less than 2 million equals less profit. If i am a developper , which would i choose to make?

If I was a developer, I'd make both.

Look at Nintendo.  At the same time they make Zelda/Mario/Brawl/Kart, etc. they make Sports/Fit/Play/Mario Party/WarioWare, and at the same time they make Brain Age, Nintendogs, Big Brain Academy, and Wii Music.  They're simultaneously making new games from their classic genres and franchises, new party/social games, and creating new genres like brain training, dog raising, etc.  They even made crazy shit like Elektroplankton that nobody knows how to define.

Other developers are doing the same thing.  Ubisoft made Red Steel and Rayman Raving Rabbids for the Wii.  They launched with a traditional FPS game and a nontraditional gesture-intensive party game.  But they're still making 8 billion Tom Clancy games and whatever else.

Let's say there are 2 bags of money.  The hardcore bag and the casual bag.  Let's say the hardcore bag is 1 million and the casual bag is 10 million.  What do you grab?  1 million, 10 million, or 11 million?

Why didn't The Blair Witch Project kill big budget blockbuster movies then?

The truth is that (like all entertainment industries) executives in the videogame industry know that you need to produce a variety of games in order to appeal to different demographics to minimize the risk of development. As long as the games you like can turn a healthy profit they will be made; if they can't turn a profit it is unlikely that they would have been able to turn a profit had the Wii not existed.

you using the movie industry, lol. It's a joke, there are so many bad movies cheap movies now, it's painful.

And at the same time there are far more big budget blockbuster titles then have ever existed ...

Lol so less than 10% of games will be made for hardcore? Weak.

Ok let me try this again:

Let's say you get 50 hardcore games a year, every single year, like clockwork.

Then there's a gaming revolution and a new market appears, worth a gazillion dollars.

Now you get 500 casual games, 500 non-games, 500 party games, and 500 "trumped up tech demos" per year.

The whole industry booms during this period.

Now you get 60 hardcore games a year.

Why would you complain?

You think TakeTwo is gonna cancel GTA and start making Grand Theft Mario Party?

You are still a target demographic.  You are still worth money.  You will still get games.

The only thing changing will be your diet.  'Cuz it's gonna be a whole mess of CROOOOOOOOOOW.

Don't worry psrock everything will be okay look at the ds and you will see the future of the wii.
