Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Is Nintendo going to right direction?

I know the sales numbers says yes, but i'm still a little confused on where they plan on going this generation. As they finish killing off the HD consoles, what games are the third parties are going to focus on? Will Nintendo give up on hardcore all together or simply focus on what's been making them money?

I am worried about the end result of this generation, i really hope that all three console can survived together, and  third parties does not abandoned the HD consoles or else, gamers like me are done with.

How many of those games are casual? How many are hardcore? Now do you think NINTENDO is leaving the hardcore behind, or 3RD PARTIES. None of this is Nintendo's fault. They are just moving up the teirs to gain more sales while third parties thing this means casual crap every where. We will see more at E3.

Edit: WHy are there capcom and Tecmo published games in my link when I put nintendo as the publisher?

Btw we've only seen half of the wii's lineup. We still have to see what they have to offer in Q3/Q4. I say Nintendo never disappoints me with their 1st party. It's worth 10 3rd parties imo.

Gamers like you killed the arcade, so it is just poetic justice.

Do not worry about Nintendo, their best franchises are not going anywhere.

we all know, the wii will be getting the third parties on the side very soon, however, i am worried about what types of games they are going throw at the consoles.
why spend 10 million dollars doing a epic game when you can spend 500k on a party game and sell millions. That's what i am worried about.

The right direction to make loads of money? Yes

The right direction to make everyone happy? No - You can never do this.

But if they make loads MORE money, then it can be argued that they are making MORE people happy than before, so its a good direction.

Tease.

If you look at the PS2+X-Box sales, and compare it to the 360+PS3 sales, the Sony/MS consoles are on track, other then Japan

So for the rest of the world, the HD market is not dying. MS has just taken market share from Sony. 3rd parties will be making games for them for a very long time. Don't worry about that.

As for Nintendo, they don't need 3rd parties to be successful. They are the biggest game manufacturer in the world (bigger then EA).

Did that happen with the PS1 and PS2? Yeah, there was a lot of shovelware, but there were also great games. It will be the same thing with the Wii.

Regarding casual games, you have to understand that the casual gaming market is also finite! If every company starts making games targeted towards the same group, the market will soon be saturated and companies will have to turn to other things in order to keep making money.

Companies know this, they won't be that stupid (or if they are, some will deservedly go bankrupt).

Yes, they're going in the right direction.

Nintendo simply cannot compete with Sony (or even Microsoft) when it comes to the hardcore gamer market.

They tried with the N64/Gamecube and failed miserably so I don't really blame them for taking a different route.

Bold: Don't worry, the bulk of third party developers will remain with the PS360. The GTA's and Call of Duty's wouldn't do half as well on the Wii.

Where Nintendo points the rest should follow, atleast if they want to be successfull

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)
