Sony doesn't really have a definitive mascot like Nintendo has Mario, Sega has Sonic, and MS has Master Chief.

 2nd party titles count, remember Master Chief is now a 2nd party character thanks to Peter Jackson's Halo games.

 

As for definitive, you mean has been on more then one console. Done, Ratchet and Clank. Made by 2nd party developer Insomniac Games.

there is a difference between a mascot and an ip  none of those names you listed are mascots...crash was the mascot but they sold it off  same applies to  spyro also

No. By definitive he means... the person see's it and assosiates it with that platform. Mario, Master Chief, Sonic, hell even link all have waaaay Higher Q ratings than any Sony character.

A lot of gamers aren't even going to know who R&C are, let alone asssosiate them with Sony.

Sony also never tries to push them or any characters as a mascot, unlke Mario or Master Cheif.

To have a mascot you need to have an iconic character. Which Sony doesn't really have.

When you think Mascot, think someone who could be on the corner of their gaming divisions companies stationary.

Ms and Sony have no mascot. Only Nintendo and Sega ever got one and they're Mario and Sonic. Both are widely known even to the non-gaming audience (like grand-parents). Masterchief is mostly known to people that played Halo. And for Sony, there was Crash but now they have none. However, I don't think that really is a problem. Mascots are only useful for advertisement.



How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

I don't even know what Helghast or echocrom is.

I guess it's best to stick to the fact that Sony has no mascots, rather than say that it has mascots no one has ever heard of...

I don't know where I got the idea, but I thought LBP was for the PSN network.
Damn, when I get Bluray (PS3 slimline) I'll have to buy the game in a shop and not online like the rest of the games that are of my interest :(

Geez ssj12... You're trying really hard to not understand what a mascot is. When you look at Mario, you think Nintendo. When you look at Nintendo, you think Mario. A mascot has to have a very strong connection to the brand it represents.

Would Sony put a Helghast or Kratos next to the Playstation logo? No they wouldn't. They're not mascots, no matter how much you desire them to be so.
