Forums - General Discussion - Kwaad's Wii harshness.

MY GOD MAN!!!!!!!! This is basically what I've been saying for months!!!!! One more thing about why the Wii is the worst of the three is that there's no online for games right now, and online should be made accessible some time in 2007!!!!?!?!?!?!?!? Also, a lot of people (including me) are fearing that it will only be gimmicky, kind of like how games for the DS (other than Nintendo made games) are now almost completely gimmicky. Within the past year, the PSP has basically caught up with the DS in terms of 9/10 and 8/10 games. IGN even stated that the biggest surprise for the PSP was that it had so many great games. It's just that the games aren't selling as well as Nintendo's games (other DS games don't really sell that well, but developers make the games so cheaply, they make a bunch of money). I also found the horizontal use of the Wiimote hurts my hands. It's that it's just too much of an angle, and it's not really made for horizontal, more the way you hold a gun. I can't wait until almost all Wii games will either make it able so you can use a normal controller, or most of them just completely suck in the controls.

Fact: Wii has an attach rate of 5.4 games per system even with "mediocre games", not counting Wii Sports in NA and Europe. PS3, a Playstation branded system that sold 100M+ units with many "anticipated titles" and a higher rated early game library is only doing a 2.9.
It's because those games are cheaper, the console is cheaper, and a lot of people like the new way to play, even with completely crappy games. I mean, two of my friends that are Nintendo fanboys, (They are even proud of it) think Excite Truck is one of the best games ever made. But when I play it, I get really, really freaking bored. Whenever I play the MotorStorm demo, I get really happy and excited. They are just obsessed with the new controls, but hopefully they will get tired of it. When you see that the Wii has 2.5 more games per system, and the PS3 is $250-$350 more expensive than the Wii, you have to see that the rate could actually be more like five to six more than the PS3. Also Wii Sports is added in, which should take about 1 off, but it depends on personal preference.

He's not real. He is simply somebody concocted by someone to troll these forums and spew nonsensical stuff to get a reaction. Everyone should stop falling into his trap while we're still ahead.
You make me giggle.

I seriously doubt they'll make too many games with a normal controller, although there are more and more games using the Classic Controller, like Mortal Combat as an option, and Super Smash Bros. Also...not being online doesn't make it a bad console...seriously. Have you actually gotten into a room full of people and played the Wii yet? If you haven't, then you have no idea. Online is great, and important, and Nintendo better get moving on a good internet system...but local playing is the most fun on the Wii...it's a people experience. But I guess trolls don't like people.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Uh what? Wii games are still $50 a pop and I happen to think its still too expensive. I only own two, Wii sports and Zelda for that very reason. I'm having a field day buying cheap PS2 and Gamecube games however(I just inherited a hand me down PS2 and I skipped that entire generation). I have no clue why you're equating $250 vs $500 and $50 vs $60 as if both price point wars are the same. Attach rates are also about ratios between total systems sold and total softwares sold, not actual raw numbers(i.e. Wii selling 10 systems and selling 100 games is the same as the PS3 only selling one console and selling 10 games. They will both have an attach rate of 10. It doesn't matter that the Wii is selling significantly more software and hardware). And nope, they don't count Wii Sports in NA and Europe. Only in Japan do they count it because it is sold separately there.

staticneuron said: The reason I didn't believe it was because of ign's translation of Kazunori Yamauchi description of the game. "Yamauchi provided a summary of what's known about GTHD so far, including the split in modes between classic and premium. Just to avoid confusion, we'll repeat the details here. Classic mode is GT4 in high-definition and a few other visual enhancements. The mode will be playable exclusively through downloadable cars and tracks. Premium mode is a single player preview of Gran Turismo 5, featuring a full-fledged PS3 graphics engine and detailed tracks and car models." http://ps3.ign.com/articles/734/734938p1.html and since we all Know that they pretty much scrapped the second concept ( the one supposedly with the new models, damage and gt 5 engine again repeated here http://ps3.ign.com/articles/748/748610p1.html ) I am curious as to where you found out the information about the redone cars and engine. I am sorry I cannot read japanese so I did not come across it.
No worries. A lot change prior to the release of GT HD Concept. It is a taster for GT5, and very nice too. If you want to get the most out of it, hook it up to a GT Force Pro. Unbeatable.

I fly this flag in victory!

Kwaad, I love your attitude.. It's nice to see that your simple opinion attracts such passionate, furious responses and personal attacks on your person.. just a tip: free speech only counts when you follow the masses (at least in the great big country overseas) I always have to laugh when I see people defending their game console as if it is their near family, their close friends, or even their own person. Guys, get a life! a console is only a product you can buy, companies like MS, Sony and Nintendo try to make a profit on (well, MS not, they lost 5 billion in the past 5 years). It's not a religion.. My personal preference, I think I will buy a PS3 (no, I know it) it looks great, I don"t want MS to succeed to monopolize yet another market and it's fun enough. The Wii might come later, but I am taking your advise, Kwaad, and see if their are some games that can keep me interested for longer than a week.

Can you explain that to me? I am not a regular gun holder. But i remember that the part where you hold the gun is something like 45 or 60 degrees from the part that ejects the bullit. Not 90 degrees or zero degrees. So either you always shoot into the ground, or your Wii game play is rather lousy. Maybe you hold the gun like all the cool guys do in recent movies, about 90 degrees tilted to the inside, but then you have the same problem shooting too far to the left or the right, or the same result with your Wii gameplay. BTW, I'm using European degrees, where 360 degrees go into a full circle..

You make a valid point...but then you talk about not buying a 360 because you "don't want MS to succeed to monopolize yet another market". I thought it was "just a product"? And I bought a Wii because I and my friends have tons of fun with it, even with the limited game selection. EDIT: Also... "BTW, I'm using European degrees, where 360 degrees go into a full circle.." Wha? I wasn't aware there were different types of degrees...which one of your physics teachers smoked pot?
