Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Did Bloom Box sell bad? (Referencing GoNintendo who are referencing VGC...)

it seems like the right type of genre o.O; What happened?

It didn't have a recognizable name like Mario at the Olympics or was descriptive like Carnival games. Nintendo conquered the casual market and left the people who read reviews behind.

But on a more serious note Boom Blox just doesn't sound like fun. You are knocking crates around. Awesome. I am not saying that its a bad game but it certainly doesn'T sound very exciting.

Yeah, there's not even any blood. Dood, that's so gay.

That game won't have legs. It's 3rd party. It's not cheap. It's over.

Price cut Zack and Wiki style in 2 months that boost sales by only 10k then another price cut blah blah blah.

"Why isn't samus in a mario kart game?"

Most people probably don't even know what the game is about like myself.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

I've seen commercials for Boom Blox at least twice a day on jetix/disney cartoon channel.

This would explain why despite the "advertising", the sales wouldn't be strong right away. Channels like that aren't targetting people who themselves have disposable income. Turns out little kids generally need their parents to buy stuff for them, and can't see a commercial and go buy it themselves.

If, like GTA, your ad is running on a major network, like Comedy Central, ESPN, or something of that ilk, then you'll get more people of sufficient age that see it and may decide to go out and buy it themselves. Disney Cartoon channel watchers probably can't take their big wheel to the local mall and plop down $50 for a game at will.

The dedication you show to any particular console or company is inversely proportional to the number of times you have gotten laid. If you get laid enough, even if you prefer a certain brand, you just don't give enough of a shit to argue about it on the internet.

Boom Blox isn't really the type of game you go pick up Day 1 like Mario Kart or Smash. It's more of a when-I-feel-like-it thing.

The Wii trend is ovaaaaahh!!

This game will sell 25K a week next week and the week after that too. This is the type of game that will sell a little for a lond time because of word of mouth. It is a really good game.

Man, talk about bad attach rates. Even ludicrously bad/niche games on the 360 usually manage 40k on their opening week in the U.S.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Like it or not the wii is never really going to get the BLOCKBUSTER 3rd party stuff like GTA IV ---- 6 million 1 week

AC & COD4 -- 400K launches....900K 2 consoles combined (AS also being a NEW IP)

and so on

damnit! now i'm never gonna get a crap game like AC on my console! damnit!

Let me guess , you never played it but you still bash the game because it did better than most 3rd party Wii games ...

BB did badly no matter how we look at the numbers . Could it have legs ? Possible , it wouldenmt be uncommon for a Wii game but the truth is that first week sales are bad ... and I mean real bad ...

haha i did, on my bro's 360. It's repetive and boring.

So true.

@ Waron

All games have a 4 day first week, that's no excuse.

Not entirely true. Some games get pre-shipped and street dated, like GTA/Halo/Madden, etc. Those basically get two extra days (all day Tuesday and Wednesday) compared to a game like Boom Blox or other smaller releases that don't usually ship until Monday or Tuesday and often don't see shelves until Wednesday or Thursday.
