What came first, the chicken or the egg?

Around the Network

The chicken was formed so that it my reproduce through sexual reproduction, and the ability to lay eggs, so the chicken!

The egg had to come first -- given that the chicken developed from an earlier, wilder fowl domesticated by early humans. At various points, an egg from one of those predecessor birds hatched into something that looked, behaved and tasted a little bit more like chicken. If you want to look at where the egg came from, that's a much longer story. :)

The first chicken came from an egg that was layed by an animal that was not a chicken. So the egg came first.

Well, when God made Adam and Eve, they were grown ups to begin with. Remember, they were formed from dust. Therefore, when he made the chickens, I am sure they were grown ups to begin with. So, I guess the chickens came first. If God made the chickens out of dust, like Adam, and Eve, then I guess the dust came first, then the chicken, and then the egg.

But where did God get the dust?

God made the dust. He can make anything out of thin air. He could have made the chickens out of thin air, but I guess he wanted to be creative.

Heh, eggs came first.  Dino's laid eggs  before chickens existed.
