First off-- Mario Kart Wii is by far the best Mario Kart I've ever played and simply one of the best games I've ever played.

Second-- how old are your kids? Have you shown them things like Boom Blox, Carnival Games, Super Mario Galaxy, Rayman: Raving Rabbids, Zack & Wiki and all the other bajillion games that are great for kids on the Wii?

Third-- I will almost never recommend someone selling their current console to get a few games. 

MK wii is a great game. It will you addicted.Without doubt it is the best in the series and probably one of the best on the wii. Get it!

Rent Elebits, or pick up a used copy. It should be cheap as hell by now. Your wife and child will absolutely love it.

Boom Blox is better. MKwii is crap compared to the other MK games. The DS has better multiplayer....

If you like fun, get it. There are better choices tho.

All I can tell you is my brother loves MarioKart Wii, like crack and can't stop playing it. He's got one of the top ghosts in the world on Waluigi's Stadium, so that's my anecdote.

the game is worth a purchase just for the online mode. If you're not sold on spending $49.99, buy Double Dash for GC.. its just $29.99.

Seriously, the courses are addicting, the custumization is the best for any Mario Kart, Multiplayer is fantastic, & TOADETTE!!!! (OK, that's just me, but the character choices are awesome) Oh, & online is awesome, too.
