Maybe I've misunderstood you, but surely the Wii is the only current gen console that doesn't have the "powerhouse title" of this generation. Seriously, if you're not talking about GTA4, what the hell are you talking about!?!?!

And what is the K.I.S.S. strategy? Have they hired Gene Simmons to be their PR guy? Or do you mean that they will make most of their money through shameless merchandising (just like the band)?

Well, Gramps, you may be older but I'm not so sure you are wiser!

1280x1024 is not higher than 1920x1080, and CoD at any resolution is considerably less "pretty" than CoD4 at 1024x600 due to far more important aesthetic considerations such as polygon count, texture resolution and graphical effects such as HDR, AA, AF etc. Sure, if you have a decent setup you could play CoD4 on PC at higher resolutions and with better f/x than on PS360, but judging by your inability to master a gamepad, I think you might flounder with the more complex keyboard/mouse configuration! After all, teaching an old dog new tricks is about as productive as teaching a pig to sing, right?

Yet, in almost every conceivable example, electronic or mechanical devices (whether consumer or industrial) use buttons, triggers and analogue sticks, and NOT infrared pointing devices or accelerometer-based motion controls. Why? Because they are far more practical in almost any given situation. That is why many people, like me, believe the wiimote to be little more than an amusing novelty. It simply offers no practical advantage over traditional control schemes (nor does a stylus - when was the last time you saw a stylophone? They were popular once!). I, for one, would not want to drive a car using a wiimote, and I don't see the "classic controller" (i.e. a steering wheel) being replaced anytime soon.

Also, I am one of the people that expects the Wii bubble to burst. I, and the innumerable professional analysts that agree with me, have very good reasons for believing that to be the case, and despite what you may think, it has nothing to do with an inabilty to perform a simple extrapolation of current sales trends.

As I never tire of pointing out, everyone's favourite videogame analyst, Michael Pachter, predicted that Wii sales would increase in 2008 over 2007, and that looks to be the case; he predicted that the Wii would dominate the market for 2 years, which also looks to be the case; and he predicted that the PS3 would narrowly "win" the generation when all is said and done...

"Drowning in the Blue Ocean" is something I expect Nintendo to do in time. Incidentally, Sean Malstrom is a Nintendo writer and has a professional bias. Judging by the article you link to, he also has a gift for fudging the truth beyond all recognition. I literally wouldn't know where to start in ripping apart his poorly thought out Nintendo promo. The graphs were the icing on the cake - he just applies numerical values to his own opinions and then comments on it as though it were legitimate data! (The NES one is a personal favourite)

OT: ... actually, after all that, I have nothing to say about the topic at hand other than that article was probably written just to get hits from incredulous Playstation and Wii fans, which it has obviously accomplished admirably.

 I haven't read every post in the thread, but those should do for now.

 Also, I notice you conveniently forgot the adventure and sports genres, and all the non-traditional action games available on Wii:

Okami

Zack and Wiki

 PES, Madden, etc.

Funny, not only that CrazzyMan is so fantastically optimistic about how the PS2 owners are going to migrate to the PS3, but how hard he still bashes the Wii.

Those Malstrom articles many here should read or at least scim through. Makes you realize how times change, and how smart Nintendo were coming into this gen.

But I don't know, ask CrazzyMan and he will still believe that everyone is waiting for the next Final Fantasy.

@ssj12: The difference between Singstar and Wii Sports is that Nintendo completely concentrated on Wii Sports, while Singstar was (and still is) Sony's "side project." Sony has had the EyeToy for years and could have easily built a Wii Sports on the PS2. Maybe they did. But they'd never advertise it. Now that Nintendo has proven simple games are fun, Sony will play catch up. And of course so will all the 3rd party publishers who threw half-baked minigame compilations together.

@OT: The fact that the author still thinks the Wii Bubble is going to burst makes me lol. If he's going to link VGChartz, he should at least try to read some of the threads.

I couldn't disagree more strongly with your assertion that 360 owners are eating dirt for games and liking it because we're either brainwashed or don't have a brain.  However, I did find that last comment very, very funny.  Thanks, I needed the laugh.

I'm surprised you haven't been banned for this, and I'm very tempted to report your post.  You have effectively turned an argument about video gaming consoles into a strong personal insult against a generation of people.  You say Grampy doesn't speak for all PS2 owners... true enough.  But do you now speak for the "current" generation when condemning all those who came before you?

Eh he's 21. People who are 21 tend to think there smarter then everyone else... right about until they get out of college.  Gotta have some leeway for peoples ages.  I mean look at all the second chances Leo-J got.

In 5 to 8 weeks Wii is going to pass 360 in NA, I wonder how the discussion will change then.
