Forums - Gaming Discussion - Microsoft is celebrating a GTA 4 victory in the UK

but attach rate was so important in the hd format wars for MS and HD DVD, why isn't it important anymore.

You're right, there's 2 million 360's in the UK and roughly 1.2-1.3 million PS3's.
Sony moved more hardware and attach-ratio wise, the PS3 version sold far better. I'm not surprised MS ignored that.

They are not but what should they say ? Our system has the worst attach ratio from the two so go with the PS3 ?

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

MS always has to celebrate something... either attach ratio or sales numbers... or whatever. MS always wins even when they loose. MS PR is freaking hilarious...

Optimistic predictions for 2008 (Feb 5 2008): Wii = 20M, PS3 = 14M, X360 = 9.5M

1. MS did win, they stole a bunch of GTAIV consumers by making it multplat from the start.
2. Sony wins because GTA IV is pushing more hardware on PS3 than 360, but like i said overall they lose because all of those sales could have been theirs and not shared and then this game would have truly moved PS3s.

-Attach ratio is way better on PS3 in UK.

-Entry point is twice the price for the machine

-Rebake making the game almost free if you purchase a 360

It's definetely not glorious. I won't say it's a fail, but close..

of course MS is celebrating, don't try to spin it with attach ratio. Taking a bigger share of the pie from what was once the almighty PS2 exclusive title is what it count, this is where the profit come from and it show alot of PS2 players have switched to X360 whether you like it or not. So this is a big celebration for MS, you can argue all you want that the system have bigger install base, or ps3 have higher attach ratio. The reality is MS is gaining a bigger share of GTA IV sales and that where the profit are.

They need a 10 year plan.

MS should be happy.

Sony should be happy.

Selling more is more important than attach rate which is why MS are rightly happy. Plenty of reason for Sony to be happy as well though.

Microsoft is celebrating because this game marked a make of break time for the 360.

The fact it is outselling the ps3 is a good thing for Microsoft as this is the only title that could have really hurt it in the long run.

Sony is pushing more hardware but the 360 survived, and is selling more units of the game.

I wonder if PS3 will outsell the 360 version in the end.
