FF I Anniversary Edition on PSP 100k sold, with a far bigger userbase. And I thought it was a remake? And Hot Shot Golf won´t be a system seller, cant you accept it?. Though I have to agrre after checking some stuff that I will sell decently. Probably more than Resistance and Ridge Racer 7.

Probably more than Resistance?... and Ridge Racer 7?... I think you should check some stuff more. Anyway, Hot Shot's Golf 5 will be a massive success. Mark my words. Massive. I don't like to look like Washimul (shockwaves etc.) but I do believe this game suits Japanese gamers more than anything so far. It's totally casuals friendly game. Maybe I'm wrong but I have really high expectation regards this particular game. 500k in Japan alone. Yes, you can flame me right now but I do believe this game will change many things.

I'm not gonna argue with you about the massive appeal of Hot Shots Golf, it is there for sure and it has been shown on PS1 and PS2 many times. However this isn't the PS1 and PS2, this is far more expensive especially for casual gamers. Hot Shots Golf was one of those games that had huge legs and saw spikes when the system dropped in price. I don't see it as a bonafide system seller for an expensive system, i see it as a game that can push casual gamers over the edge, but too many of these people will find the 50000 yen price tag too high. For people that already own the PS3 it will certainly sell well, and for people that were about to buy one, this might put them over the edge but that's about it.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

@ johnsobas

We will know soon. You've heard it first here.

There's almost a million PS3 users in Japan that will buy up the game in droves too don't forget. It's not like it's selling only to new PS3 buyers. I do agree that it won't move many systems though. What kind of bump did Gundam give PS3 hardware? I'm too lazy to look it up. :P

I agree. HSG is the type of game that is moving Wiis right now, not PS3s. It's a cheap console with games geared toward casual users.

It's basically the antithesis to the PS3 and I don't see how HSG is going to make much of a difference on a $600 console (or $450 or whatever it is in Japan).

Gundam. Yes, that was really disappointing. IMHO this game will sell more than 150k PS3's.

Edit:

@rocketpig

I think price isn't a reason of poor sale of PS3 in Japan. It's lack of games for broad audience.

It's totally casuals friendly game Yep, I have to agree with that. The problem is, the PS3 is the most anti-casual friendly console of all time. It may have the appeal, but the price is far more important than the appeal. I mentioned Ridge Racer and Resistance because they have sold like 110k. I expect that game to sell between 100k-200k. And I insist, it won´t sell many PS3´s.

Agreed - HS, considering how bad K7 just did in Japan, once it passes 50k or 100k w/w, it'll start making a profit. IMO, Capcom did a great thing by making a port to Wii - I just wish they'd do the same thing with RE4 to 360!!

 Yeah, it's not as though Capcom is having trouble with their games on the 360.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Do you work for Sony?  Maybe not, at least you seem to understand you can't sell a $600 console with no games.  Even so as we've seen you're both wrong on the major determinant of console sales.  No game or combination of games can significantly sell a $600 system.
