Forums - Sales Discussion - Japan: First Day Sales (RE4:Wii, 30k)

Hmm... Doesn't that 30K for RE4 mean maybe 45K for the week and 80K lifetime? I'd expect an ancient port of a "hardcore" game to do most of its business up-front. IIRC, Capcom's own expectations for LT WW sales were under 500K. Hot Shots Golf will flop on PS3 too. That whole audience will buy a Wii and Wii Sports.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

I usually don't do horror either usually. Exceptions are Berserk, Hellsing and now Claymore. :)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

 IMO:

30k in day one; 45k for the week and maybe around 100k over the next 2-3 months.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

500k for RE4 worldwide should be attainable because i would imagine it would sell 200-300k in the US alone.

It´s a direct port, if it sells more than 50k(first week) in Japan it should be considered a success.

Minor correction, Alone in the Dark is French.  Also, you ought to mention Fatal Frame and the scariest thing ever made, Silent Hill.

Like FF I Anniversary Edition on PSP...

Edit:

This golf game for PSP is totally overpriced - it costs ~ 8500 so it's 3000 more than PS3's game. It's bundled with GPS. Standard version (¥5000) is without GPS but you have to own this device to play. No wonder why it flop.

@ Erik Aston

No way. Hot Shot Golf 5 will be massive success and a systemseller in Japan.

I have to wonder what the actual shipment figure for RE4 to retailers is. 50k sales in week #1 may yet sell out of the initial shipment.

Am surprised by HSG (no matter what platform it is) - it is a fairly popular franchise for Japan.

FF I Anniversary Edition on PSP 100k sold, with a far bigger userbase. And I thought it was a remake? And Hot Shot Golf won´t be a system seller, cant you accept it?. Though I have to agrre after checking some stuff that I will sell decently. Probably more than Resistance and Ridge Racer 7.

i wouldn't say hot shots golf won't be a system seller at all, just that it won't be as significant as some people are making it out to be. It may double PS3 sales for 1 week, but that isn't saying a whole lot because that's still only 20k.
