Forums - PC Discussion - EA's anti piracy screwing up PC Mass Effect.

FTA apparently Spore may also do this which would be interesting if true as that's definitely going to be one of the biggest PC games if not the biggest this year.

@mummelmann-A pirated copy cant be authenticated hence the implementation of the system in the first place smart@ss.

......every 10 days??!! Is this a joke article????

Let's hope that our friends with black hats crack it within a few hours just to teach those blundering idiots a lesson.

Also, if Spore does this same thing, I'm not buying it.  DRM like this is completely unnaccetpable.

I'm not going to buy it or pirate it. I just want EA to know that this is not the way to do things.

Also, not "PC gaming is dying!" again. We've had this discussion far too many times....

the pirates will find a way to crack it and remove the 10 days authentication crap, only people that buy the game will be forced to do it

Wii/Mario Kart Wii Code:2793-0686-5434

I purchased my copy of Bioshock for the PC. Ended up having to remove AVG Anti-virus because it kept seeing the game as a virus (rightfully so). After re-installing the game it worked great, but I had no anti-virus for a while, which was rather upsetting, since I'm not the only person who uses my computer. I still have Bioshock installed on my PC, so Securom doesn't bother me as much now. But, I seriously regretted purchasing Bioshock for the PC because of Securom.

As far as pirating the game, they will simply remove the Securom check. The 10 day system is useless. These folks are already used to removing Securom when ripping games. I agree that one check is enough. If they really wanted to control it they should use or create a system like Steam where clearly visible software (Steam) rather than spyware (Securom) controls and limits our actions. Steam is by no means perfect, but I would rather deal with it than Securom.

Annoying? Sure. Going to stop me from buying it? Of course not. That would be a ridiculous reason not to purchase a game.

how can they regulate the every 10 days thing, i mean it seems easy to crack. crackers just have stop the code that does it.

Nope, still buying it.

I don't see how PIRATING the game will NOT encourage them to do crap like this.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
