Forums - Website Topics - WE WANT BALANCE!! Mods actions are either non existent or out of control...

I can only but agree.
I have never seen a forum where mods contributed so much to the inflamatory topics instead of trying to cool down the moods.
Mods are supposed to moderate, not to poor oil on heated threads.
Last but not least mods are not supposed to take sides...

Pick any thread with a heated discussion, it's pretty much a given a mod will have posted in it arguing for one side or the other....

You can be a fanboy and a mod but the first shoudn't appear obvious in every moderating post you make.

PS : There's exceptions, clearly Ioi and The Source know what it means to moderate and I have yet to see them dragged into a flame war...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !

Though I agree with you , in the same time its more personal , and mods actually get a real face rather than just a bot-like look . They are member just like us , but beeing more mature ( or smarter ? :o ) they get some extra power on the site ...

Clearly with the recent mod actions, the mods have been told that they need to crackdown on the forums... well thats great and all but you guys arn't consistent. One week everything is allowed, and the next members get banned for the slightest infraction without warning.

We have no clue what threads will get locked or which one won't or what comments/infractions will get you banned

Its like having a Schizoprenic boss and not knowing what the hell will get you fired.

I agree, i have seen twestern(sp?) warn people for things like saying bad things about an article which is just stupid.

DKII has been banning people for any anti-wii comment. I love my Wii but some of the comments were not evn bad yet he went on a fanboy tirade and banned people.

I think the thread you're talking about is one where the user didn't post the whole article so that it looked pretty horrible rather than when you read the whole article it made sense (the one about Valve not a PS3 developer).  The warning was for a needless insult on Gabe that really wasn't nice at all.

As for the locking, I totally agree there should be a comment before the lock.

Yeah, ctk495, the bumping rule has been around, but ioi released updated rules about 2 weeks ago and bumping a thread was clearly not allowed. That would be why you can't bump threads. If you want a thread to come back to public view, post something that has meaning and then it is not a bump.

I would like names of people you think were unfairly banned.  Most of the bans I have seen recently have been completely justified, and if there are some that are not, I would be interested to know.

As I said when I warned you read the rules, specifically the ones on post content.  Just saying bump is not only annoying but also spam.

In Grey Acumen's thread about needing a new review system (humorously titled "GTA IV demonstrates HD Console Userbase Desperation") most of the people that were disagreeing with Grey were simply trolling based on the title. IMHO people should be banned for a day for arguing based on ignorance and refusal to correct themselves. But this is just one person's opinion.

And you don't think he Grey should be banned for making a controversial title that he knew would end up in a flame war? I mean come on he directly called HD console owners desperate. It's like if I made a title "SMG review scores show Nintendo fans like it up the Butt" and then my actual thread was fine but obviously my title was meant as flame bait. I understand you can't change the title after you've made it, but that's why you should give it a little bit of thought before hand.

...

You really need somone that has equal contempt for everyone.
