Sony are pretty bold here specially when Microsoft have shipped 6m and they have shipped 5m. Can it depend on wich countries they mean by Europe?
Edit: Checked VG numbers PS3 at 4.5m and 360 4.8m so it might be.

It is perfectely plausible (as it has been done before by the three companies) that he isusing a shipped figure for the PS3, as he will have direct data for it and it is the higher number, but compaering it to sold figures (perhaps by GfK/Chart Track) of the XB360
I'm not reading through this whole topic but you all should know not to take Sony PR statements seriously.

Huh? The 360 has sold 4.9 million IN EUROPE. You need to take out the million+ sales in "Others" and Australia.

The biggest console selling store in my city Media Markt (Groningen, Netherlands) had only 5 PS3s remaining yesterday and about 2 pallets of 360s.
