Actually to me Gebx does make some sense, since Sony did push PS3 as a hardcore system, however I myself am not convinced about which userbase is more hardcore. I guess the longer legs will determine it.

360 will beat the PS3 this month because of GTA IV!!!!

All the Hardcore players purchased their consoles the first week. These Hardcore players are more likely to be console loyal. I expect those buying the game in the next couple weeks to be casual players who are more likely to purchase the less expensive console.


I doubt this, theres no incentive for a more casual gamer to buy a 360, while the PS3 has the added benifit of a built in Blu-Ray player. So if a 'casual' gamer were to buy a HD system just for GTA IV, I would say quite confidently they will buy the PS3 for its further uses above and beyond being a gaming machine.

 

Besides that, the PS3 has beaten the XBOX360 in sales every month according to this very site since what? Mid November? Of course thats World Wide, if we just took America, besides March the PS3 has been outselling the XBOX360 since January?

 

I dont think the 'casual' crowd that is so casual that they will drop 400 dollars for a machine to play GTA IV will change that trend. Period.

 Believe it or not, cheaper is incentive for a LOT of people.

lol, ok you bolded that this thread had nothing to do with software yet you polarize it around
the release of GTA oh man so thanks for that lol.

Anyway GTA didn't make that big an impact on their hardware sales, it seems around average.

Which leads to saturation?

Prehaps the saturation point in US for HD has been reached for the 360, which means that the
Ps3 is probably selling as much due to it's software and technologies.

Should the saturation truely be the case for the 360 the PS3 may taper off on sales in the US
once it hits 15 million.

My guess is that's the number of people with HD TVs willing to buy a gaming console.

Of course this also brings into account the growth of HD market.

Aside from that I'm not sure at all, but should PS3 numbers begin to shribble up at that point
they will need the EU market a lot, which is what they are gunning for right now.

For some reason neither are doing well in Japan.

sony fanboys are getting rediculas.

This generation is a win at this point for the 360. Sony went from domination to fighting its ass off for 2nd.

It will be almost two years before ps3 gets past the 360 and then what?

360 is making a profit currently and MS is going to keep that. If they wanted to "win" by hardware sales they would have dropped the price by now because god knows its way overdue and should have been a long time ago.

Keeping up with just a 50 dollar price cut is really good and stealing all the ps2 fanboys (like myself) from last generation=success

 It is, but is being 50 dollars cheaper going to be bigger in a gamers mind then having a built in Blu-Ray player that is also future proof? (399.99 PS3 vs 349.99 360)



I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.

That's a rather bold assumption.  GTA may have been the game to finally push them over the edge, but don't think they aren't looking at the bigger picture.  Game library, extra features, hardware reliability, brand familiarity, etc. all play a part in the decision (some more than others depending on the person and their knowledge [or lack thereof] of the systems).  The first is subjective, but the latter three certainly favor the ps3, and that has been exemplified through sales over the recent months.

anyone here know when it's coming and what it it?

360 will end up selling more consoles than PS3 due to this game.  But how can we tell?
