Read the title and OP again. I never said it was dying, I merely posed a question, so how can my logic be flawed? It's a question.

I like those threads , as people know that 360 is a console that is not easy to compete, 26K first week??? Good for PS3. 1 Million more software??? Good for XBOX360!!!

It's nowhere near to 2:1, not even within North America where the 360 currently enjoys a 2.5 to 1 install base advantage and going by VGChartz' figures it's only 1.67 to 1. For the UK it's more like 1.2 to 1 with the 360 having nearly twice the install base. For many other European countries like France, Italy, Germany, Spain, etc the install base advantage goes to the PS3, so the worldwide ratio would be more to the advantage of the PS3 overall than for the UK and US (the two best performing 360 markets by far).

I expect the release of anticipated PS2 sequels to have a much greater effect than those hyped non-free downloadable episodes (the vast majority of 360 owners aren't even subscribed to Live to use GTA IV's extensive online multiplayer).

I think the software win makes the hardware win pale in comparison, in all aspects, business sense, brand equity sense, future prospects sense. GTA4 has proven that the PS brand no longer has a monopoly in the NA and to me, marks a new beginning for MS, no way its the end. The GTA franchise was king for the PS brand in NA, as the Halo franchise is now.

The only way I will admit that its the end of the 360 is if PS3 has a game that makes me wet my pants in awe, so I wait in anticipation for next years games. There are already too many 360 games coming out to keep up.

How many times did we have a "beginning of the end for 360"? Just accept that the 360 isn't dying, even if it gets a disadvantage in terms of installed base towards the end of the console war. It will keep having moneyhatted exclusives, plenty of multiplatform games. The 360 sells a lot of software, so it's not going away any time soon. It remains a viable platform. The PS3 became a viable platform after it got its huge price cuts and finally started selling decently.

Bottom line - for all practical purposes, the 360 and the PS3 have tied, and have almost equal appeal except for 1st party games and moneyhatted exclusives, which are the distinctive feature. Sure, one of them will have a marginally bigger installed base (probably PS3). Sure, one of them will generate slightly more profit (probably 360). However, those things only matter for Sony and Microsoft, not for 3rd parties and not for most gamers either.

If you have a HD console, be happy in the knowledge that it didn't (and won't) die anytime soon.

Ffs, if I had a 50 Eur bill for every "it's the end for 360" thread I'd be rich. Let it go man, let it go. MS proved it can deliver, let's hope Sony get its act straight and don't mix VCR's wanabe's with games! Roll on PS4, PS3 is a flop, I'm sorry, that's disturbing but it's a fact. Too cocky, they got too cocky!

 

Can you guys imagine if it was 360 was PS3 and vice-versa? 360 would be dead. PS3 still manages to get away "with murder" because its living on PS2 expenses, which was in fact a great system. MS is working hard, they have to. Too bad some ppl due to "funny feelings" towards companies don't accept that.

And it amazes me even more when it's even Aemericans who bash their greates company, which literaly changed the world. If I was American I'd be proud instead, but that's me...

XBox 360 has improved significantly upon the original XBox and is selling at a faster rate than the original XBox. original XBox sold 24.8million worldwide and the XBox 360 should be able to reach that tally by the end of the year. Take into account the second half of the year every console gets around 70% total sales for the year, Xmas holiday period.

the problem is for the PS3 attatch rates mean nothing until the installbases are roughly the same size and the difference in sales in minimal to the point where at this rate it would still take to the end of this gen for the PS3 to catch up.

Attatch rates dont matter to devs and software sales on the 360 are so good that it's worth porting 90% of ps3 announced games over to the 360 for the time being - so people will still buy the 360 at a steady pace as they're getting the latest HD games. From this point of view I think MS has taken a bite out of Sony's last gen dominance so is it the beginning of the end?

I personally feel if MS turned around tomorrow and announced 12 months free XBL membership then this would boost sales more than the recent price cuts.

360 is doing well with gtaiv.

If it didn't have GTAIV then this thread would actually make more sense lol
