has anyone noticed that everytime your in first place the A.I. gets all these damn powerups and knocks you out of first place.  I mean good lord you can run a flawless race and finish in fourth place its freaking crazy.  What the hell is wrong with these game designers?????

I can understand giving powerups to people in last place but come on should you be punished for running a flawless race?????

Nintendo really needs a patch to fix this, it destroys the gameplay on a otherwise fun game :(

Yeah really annoys me on the 150cc grand prix. Can lead the whole race then at the end I get hit by everything and finish 9th.

what are you talking about? the game is easy to get into first place.  What I am saying is you can run a great race and finish in 4th place because the game is slanted towards the last place person.  What you are saying has nothing to do with the topic.  I like my wii but there is something wrong with the way this gameplay is handled. 

You don't see smash brothers giving the weaker opponent better powerups cause they are getting their ass kicked, it is equal in how it distributes.

maybe you just suck @ the game.....

Actually, you do get a "mercy final smash" if you respawn and you're really far behind in lives or score.

Also,  this game is not really a racer. The idea is that if you're in first, you should get the weaker items, and if you're in last get better items, so that everyone has a chance. There are ways to avoid some of the problems, like the red and green shells. If you hear a red shell approaching, drop a banana peel, and it'll hit that instead of you. You're likely to get a lot of banana peels when you're in first, so just hold on to them.  There's nothing you can do about the blue shell. Though I once got hit by three of them in 1 race and still managed to come out in first.

 Actually, Brawl sometimes gives a loosing player in time matches a pity final smash (You respawn ready to unleash your final smash).

So if you are in last place and all you get is green shells and banana peels, would you think it was fair first was getting mushrooms and stars?

It is a double-edged sword. Wield it properly.
