 Or maybe, judging by the sales of the game on the 360, they would only have sold marginally more copies (if any), and spent more money to do so...  Keep in mind, the vast majority of Valve fans are PC gamers on Steam.  Why would they want to move to a console?

Well the PS3 is kind of a disaster for Sony.

It's doing ok, don't get me wrong, but it was sold to the shareholders as a moneymaking machine.
Next week Sony will still report big losses on its gaming division.

I've heard you or someone else say this before, and I'm still quite confident this is revisionist history.

In January, a month after the PS3/Wii's launch, Pachter said something like this. However, I specifically remember him estimating 10% marketshare for the Wii pre-launch. If you have proof otherwise, please post it!  

i want to see a thread that somebody made before either console came out that says the wii will break a billion records. and by a billion i dont actually mean a billion for any of you fanboys out there that were thinking of correcting me.

 In TaurusVGC's post the bottom has Patcher's 10-15 % of the market of the wii prediction...

Kind of raises the question of how these analysts keep their Jobs,  

He only made one prediction (the Wii)...however he also made an assessment (the PS3).

At the time of this comment people still thought the PS3 would stomp the Wii by a wide margin and despite the fact that many people were bashing Sony about how badly they screwed the launch. His assessment of the situation was spot on at the time and his prediction for the Wii was as well.

If he had said "I predict sony will go bankrupt!" or "I think the PS3 will be a dead console in 6 months." that would have been a prediction. Actually I think its clear from his comment he expected Sony to keep pushing forward with the PS3 which is of course what they did. He never said they couldn't right the ship, and they still haven't yet either.

that's what i thought too, because of that, the tread was about Wii predictions, but it seems that people think the part about PS3 is more interesting...
