Forums - Gaming Discussion - CNN claims GTA IV is training kids to kill

Glenn Beck lol, the guy who still denies Global Warming?

I'm assuming this is for the USA? Well the only thing training children to be killers are the retarded gun laws and spasticated parents. If things are to change you need to make guns outright banned, otherwise what's the point in "protecting" yourself if you all have guns? Take a tip from places where they don't have guns, subsequently having less gun crime, and ban them.

Well Ninjabreadman, you have a point... but since when are legal gun owners (the ones who go through the training and the get the permit) the ones we should be targeting with these gun laws?

I mean criminals rarely if ever have proper permits for their guns, so who can defend themselves when there is a gun pulled on them? Only those who likewise have guns, Police or citizens.

What if the government becomes oppressive and we need to overthrow our government? Jefferson said it is our duty to throw off the shackles of such oppression and replace it. We cannot do that if we don't have weapons.

As I was channel surfing the other day, I saw Anne Coulter as a guest on Glenn Beck.
That's enough said. (For those who don't know her -- she is the uber conservative who called the World Trade Center widows "harpies and shrews").

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I "lol" at articles like this.

The game just got released.

ITS A GAME!!!!!!!!

It's not a training simulation for kids to do crime. It's sad how society can use a video game and accuse their children to do what they do because of the game.

I just play the game and that's that. I don't try to interpret what the video game characters do.

If it is a problem, then why the heck are you letting your kids play it?

Ask that question?!?

Being that there has been no measured warming since 1998, and recently it was announced that there will be a decade (or more) cooling trend in the near future, it may not be such a bad idea to question the histeria surrounding global warming.

For those wondering what I'm talking about, the Pacific Decadal Oscillation is a change in the currents in the ocean which occurs on 20 to 30 year intervals; with the inequal distribution of weather stations in the world it has the side effect of increasing the measured temperature of the world durring one phase, and cooling the measured temperature of the world durring the other phase. For the past 25 years we have been in the warming phase of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation, and for the next 20 to 30 years we will be in the cooling phase of the Pacific Decadal Oscillation; it has been argued that the warming that is attributed towards global warming could actually be explaned by the PDO along with the long standing sunspot cycle, but this is largely ignored by people because Global Warming is a political issue not a scientific issue.

Would you rather have some people who legally obtained guns, thus making it easier for mad nutters to obtain fire arms since there are more in the wild, or no guns and less of these crack pots? If you can't rely on your police force or have the opinion that your goverment could go a bit crazy, even though you would have voted them in (go Bush!), then you really need to worry.

Organised crime won't be going away anytime soon, however, people who have it on their mind to commit crimes like the Virginia Tech massacre can be stopped by this.

Mad nutters (as you call them) will not pass for the permit. I would rather protect myself than rely on some outside force. I don't own a gun, but I will probably go buy one within a year or two. Look up the crime stats for the people who legally own guns (citizens with permits). I think that they commit less crime that off-duty police officers. Gun laws (banning guns) simply punish the people who follow the law. Criminals will still have access to guns via the black market just like drugs are. /sigh I wish this weren't the case, but it is. We need to protect ourselves before the police can get there.

Since there are guns made available for legal permit holders, there will be people who will have it easier to obtain for those whose hands will misuse them.

To put it easier for you to understand, imagine country X had video games completely banned for the last 50 years, and country Y hadn't. Yes there would be more people in country Y who wouldn't pirate games and would enjoy them in a legal manner, but there damn well would be a larger market for pirate games than in county X since people know more about them, and like to experience them more.
