Forums - Gaming Discussion - What annoys you? Defend the place, escort missions or escape in time

I just dont like those three types of modes in a video game seriously, I nevr finished batallion wars 2 and medal of honor heroes 2 because of it

I hate escort missions the most out of those three.

Why would escaping in time annoy you? I would think it would be the most useful method of escaping, granted the person chasing you can't travel in time himself.

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

I always hated escort or defend missions in everything I've played almost. The worst ones ever were in the old wing commander games though. Those things sometimes were beyond frustrating to try and defend.

Play MOH: Heroes 2 in veteran mode and play the last level, you will know what I mean.

I mean they can all be good, and I feel like they change the pace of games for the better in most cases. Escape in time probably bothers me the most though.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

akuma587------> So defending a structure while there are bombardment of units coming at you and sometimes you only have few companions or its just you alone was ok to you? have you played the first Lord of the Rings slash game by EA? That defend the gate was HARD

Esacpe in time, I can never do those ort of things. Time limits in general to be honest.

Of the 3 escort missions especially when the escortee has buggy AI. Then escape in time if the challenge is unreasonable. I for the most part like defensive postions when done well.

What I really hate is grinding as a gameplay mechanic followed by interactive cutscenses where you have to press A A B B A especially if the order changes on the 2nd 3rd 4th and 80th attempts. I also hate repetition in general.

Escort's probably the most annoying if the person can't defend themselves. Okay, he/she is a civilian, but I'm pretty sure if they have at least one hand with fingers attached, they can fire a gun. They might not be accurate, but given the circumstances , don't think anyone would really mind.

Another big issue is stupid AI, it's not so bad now (probably because escort missions have died down somewhat) but I used to hate it when I called a person to go a place or follow up behind me, they'd run into an obstacle and were stuck until i changed the direction they were walking towards by running all the way back, just to stand beside them for them to turn and walk around the object... pathetic

Defend the place is not so bad, except when they give you no mounted weapons or auto defenses (including mines) (i.e End of Call of Duty 2 on the hardest difficulty was such a pain). I didn't mind the mission in CoD4 though, at least you had some mounted weapons, c4, claymores and air strikes to provide support. I actually kind of wish they had that sort of mode in CoD4 (closest would be domination or headquarters, but I'd prefer the teams either doing solely defending or solely attacking, not just trying to balance both).
