 Firstly sales number is a poor indicator of the quality of a game , sales proove to some extent how good a game is but then they also proove the quality of the promotion and advertising of the product.

 The real problem is the gaming industry is traditionaly hardcore , they've been around for generations expecting innovation , graphical capabilities etc etc for years. I think there's confusion over comparing Wii games to themselves ( because of the market Nintendo is selling to) or comparing Wii games to PS3/360 ( which is kinda unfair because the Wii is likely to never in win the graphics/physics department , but that's the route  Nintendo chose).

some 3rd parties don't help either , with the low cost of development they can release shovelware onto the Wii pretty fast , I think this is damaging for the Wii's image as a quality gaming Console , Nintendo can't realy do much about this without risking their profiability.

Wii Game's aren't being reviewed on the same basis , depending on your opinion it doesn't really make sense to give a Wii game 9/10 - 10/10 unless the actual art direction is amazing. The Wii has to be like a blind person , because it isn't talented in the graphics department , it's ability in every other deparment must be exceptional to make up for it's disadvantage.Simply put the Wii has to be exceptional in other areas Gameplay , replayability, story line etc in order to be on par with your Gears Of War's or GTA IV's.

 

Because people who buy Mario Kart and Wiifit don't look at scores. Just look at M&S and Carnival the game.

Now.. if those are on PS360. it will probably sell like Heavenly Sword, roughly 1 million.

Bringing up WiiFit review scores? Seriously? So we have half the Wii haters complaining that Nintendo is killing gaming and that WiiFit isn't a game and the rest laugh when the game critics who are set up to serve core gamers don't review it well?

When did Nintendo ever get a free pass? Their highly rated games on gamerankings.com are SMG, MP, Zelda: OoT, and RE4 and arguing that those titles don't deserve high scores is as stupid as arguing that GTA IV doesn't deserve 10s. The casual titles like WiiSports have always gotten trashed by a lot of reviews.

And can we somehow contact Malstrom and get him to update Wii Bingo? "Wii has no games left for Q_ in 20__" can officially replace "Gamecube started selling well at first too".

/sigh another "zomg whats after wii fit?!? lawl!!" argument? As I pointed out in another thread recently Nintendo keeps things close to the vest and they have for quite some time. Back in summer of '07 we had the "zomg whats after Metroid?!? lawl" argument...then we had the "zomg whats after SMG?!? lawl" argument...and brawl and fit...Ironically most of the time we do have an idea of whats coming. For example I'm expecting the following games to be added to the "zomg whats after _____?!? lawl" argument list:

Monster Hunter
FF:CC:MLAK
Alone in the Dark
World of Goo
Lost Winds
de Blob
Brothers In Arms
FF: CD
Star Wars: TFU

And those are just the announced "gamer" games (not all are dated but a lot are) and they are only the games on my list of games that I'm personally looking forward to. So there are actually more than this...and most of these are are tentatively scheduled for this year with the exception of the last two iirc.

But as I said above Nintendo keeps things close to the vest so E3 will likely have some announcements (as will GDC) about Nintendo's lineup for the second half of the year which will of course only add to this list.

Wii Fit - with a gamerankings score of only 82% this game is probably going to get passed up for all the other exorcise videogames with higher scores out there in the genre it just invented.

Mari Kart Wii - I was trying to think of something funny or sarcastic to say about this game as well, but Having played it, all I can say is that it's way too god damned much fun to be legal. I guess being "Way too god damned much fun to be legal" is about an 82 %

Tell me please, these reviews...What are they based off of? This is somewhat of a rhetorical question considering the answer is personal opinion. This isn't the movie industry where they rate a film based on criteria for each genre. This is an industry where any hack with an internet connection can tell you what to think of your gaming decisions.

The ultimate review is when the lifetime sales numbers come in.
