Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii's "Big Hitters" Averaging low 80's in Reviews..No One Cares?

I just think its funny that Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii both average under 83% (meaning they are about as good as Heavenly Sword) yet no one seems to care. Is Wii Fit the last big hitter announced this year for the Wii?

I mean they will probably still sell, but it will just prove once again that the Wii sells any crappy game with Wii or Mario infront of it. Im happy to see that reviewers have stopped giving Nintendo a free pass on games and actually started judging by quality over hype. Is there anything left on the Wii for the rest of the year thats already announced or are they going to pull and EA and release Mario____08 with updated rosters?

They gotta have something big planned for E3, but if they announce Wii cooking or anything of that nature I think im going to piss myself from laughter, lol.

Let me just add. I think reviews are crap too. Numbers for games all across different genres are stupid. It's just that many people were caught up in this Nintendo domination, Wii can do no wrong phase while still bashing the PS3 for having "no games". But hell, to be honest at this point I would say its the Wii with no games since we disregard any game that scores under a 90 as being "a game". So what is it? Does the Wii get a pass because its "Mario-" and "Wii-"? When its Lair or Heavenly Sword(ok Lair really sucked) its justified but when its the Wii all of a sudden its the man trying to take the Wii down? Iunno dawg. Sure you all may like Wii Fit and Mario Kart regardless of scores, but does the gaming community now remove that from the list of "games" the console has?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

It doesn't seem to matter what Wii games score...they still sell.

This.

Also, you make babies cry. Fortunately, Wii makes them laugh again.

Now if you excuse me, I'll be having some fun *gasp* playing Mario Kart.

No one believes these reviewers are unbiased.

Wii Fit is too much of a non=game to be reviewed accurately by these gaming sites. Its sales will prove that it is a 9+ game.

Mario Kart is too much in visual appearance to its successor for these gaming sites and is getting knocked down for the wrong reasons. Its sales will also prove that its a 9+ game.

I think it is just a problem with how they are being viewed by the current gaming sites. Same reason why GTA4 keeps getting 10's when it should probably be more of a '9-ish' game.

I hate saying this because I hate being that guy but Wii games generally just review low.

With each of the Wii's big hitters I keep saying to myself man, this has to be seriously one of the most fun games I've played *ever* and they just keep getting better.

I've always liked the Mario Kart series, they're good games, but I've never really been in love with them. Mario Kart Wii completely turned things around and it's probably one of the most fun games I've ever played. Before that was Brawl, before that Super Mario Galaxy, before that RE4, before that Metroid Prime 3 and so on.

Until they stop giving Madden a free pass, you have no business acting as though Nintendo got free passes from reviewers.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

But there are plenty of Wii big hitters with Rave reviews also, such as Galaxy and just-released Brawl.  Mario Kart also isn't a short single player game like Heavenly Sword, it's a multiplayer game that will get hundreds of hours of attention from many (or most, perhaps) of its owners.

Every game Nintendo makes should be at least a 9, blah, blah, blah...
