You guys do realize people are aware that every game has flaws? A game can still get a ten and have flaws. No game is perfect, most people realize that. I've not seen a Grand Theft Auto IV review that says the game didn't have any flaws. At least not so far. But I do think it's a good quality game for what it is, and I'm not even much of a GTA fan (I've just never understood what made it so... great, I guess).

Yes, every game has flaws. GTA has enough to warrant a lower score IMO. Especially when you look at the asshats at IGN who gave every single category a 10. Given the acting, dialogue, graphical quality, and framerate/pop-in of the game, that's ridiculous and 100% bullshit.

Did you read there review? It went something like this, It has these flaws "insert list" but we love it so much we gave it a 10 anyways.

"Back off, man. I'm a scientist."

Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked.

Yeah, unfortunately I spent 10 minutes reading it.

I'm not a fan of bashing or anything but I do have some qualms with this game. Driving in this game isn't as smooth or "fun" as people put it out to be. The car doesn't handle well and steering is a mess. Running in this game is tedious. Why are we regulated to having to tap on the A button everytime we have to sprint?

I think this game is extremely overrated and doesn't live up to the hype at all. Then again, this is just my opinion about the game and I understand that there are people out there who are totally content with the software.

im sorry but i have never played GTA4 and will not play it ever. ill explain why i have three kids and high morals. to me GTA4 isnt anything special looks like GTA3 with better graphics and online whoopidy doo. the last GTA game i played was GTA3 it got boring after 30 minutes. after seeing what was in GTA:SA i was appalled. GTA4 still has the sex scenes and beating up hookers? cmon there are lines that have been crossed by this series now. the original concept i think was great but what its turned into is stuff that i dont wanna do even if it was legal. so to those who think it is the greatest game in the world then stop bickering bout the ones that are complaining its not and vice versa. to me who cares about reviews a good review was what all teh mags had back in teh 80's with fun factor and extra content rankings. to me right now paying 60 bucks for a game i would play for 30 minutes a year or two isnt good.

now watch all the sony and MS fanboys are gonna be like your such a wii fanboy. actually yes i have a wii but a fanboy no i love my pc games and wii games equally.
to say its fun to me is an opinion what is fun to one person isnt fun for another i think that is where all this negativity is coming from in this thread is cause if someone's opinion you dont like you have to lash out against them. ive been apart of many sites and havnt seen a bunch of supposedly grown ups fight about a game ever.

my suggestion is if the game is popular like alot are saying it will be around awhile and will sell great but if people buy it and it disapears within a month and people stop talkin bout it (see COD4, halo3, or any other over hyped game). just everyone please stop pushing it down our throats if we dont want nothin to do with it. that is my only problem.

there are normal people after all =D

The only major issue I have with scorptile's post is the last sentence. No one is shoving the game down anyone's throats. The people who love the game are expressing their opinions about the game in a vocal mannor and is completely free to do so. Just because a set group does not like that so many people enjoy the game and posts about how good it is to them does not mean you should believe that fans of your style of game has not done it or that your complaints are right or moral. Remember there was just as many positive threads on SSBB, SMG, Halo 3, etc. of peoplestating their opinions on how good the games were.

GTA4 has more threads than Brawl (though Brawl ate its way into a lot of threads...hehe).  SMG and Halo 3 were far smaller in terms thread spam.

I'm just tired of coming into the gaming forum and seeing the top 8 threads on GTA4 especially when there's a sticky for GTA4 which should be causing all of them to be locked.

I'm in total agreement that I wouldn't give the game a ten, but I think there's a lot of reverse shallowness that goes on too.  Not by the critics, but by consumers.  People who will give Grand Theft Auto IV a 1 just for the fact that it's Grand Theft Auto IV.  Or people who will say, "It's not that great so it shoudl get a 5 instead."  If people don't like it, that's fine, but sometimes I find it ridiculous that these kinds of discussions even exist.  I mean, it's all about people getting in their two cents in the midst of the hype.  It happens whenever a huge game comes out.

In terms of fun, yeah, gaming is about fun, but I also think now people are playing games for story and even some for intellectual stimulation.  By that I mean people are starting to use video games as more of an art form too.  To do things like make social commentaries, philosophy and such.  It's pretty cool stuff, I think.

As much as I like VGChartz, I must be honest. I'm not too interested in the community. Most (I'd say a good 70% of the people here) are too caught up in the fanboyism and politics of gaming, and are mostly just people waiting to ravenously insult another user on the forums. I tried participating in the forums but rather than discuss it seems most of you would rather tear other people down. Why is it necessary to insult everyone who thinks differently than you? Also, not everything here is a fanboy conspiracy. I see the word fanboy here than I do on most forums out there. I'm sorry, I don't want to be a part of a community that's so negative towards everyone all the time. I'd rather go to a place where the people of a forum are more willing to discuss and step away from personal attacks any time someone disagrees with them. I just can't take it anymore.

So I ask, respectfully, that you don't add me. I'll more than likely respond to respectful messages but don't count on me being on the forums too much and don't count on me accepting your friend request.

I agree somewhat. Yes, the game is overrated. But I believe it's living up to the hype, just not the "reviewer hype". It's truly an excellent game and is quite possibly the best game I have played this generation, excluding The Orange Box. It's right up there with SMG, Mass Effect, and other games I really enjoyed.

Personally, I think the driving is awesome. Gone forever is that busted-ass driving mechanic in the previous GTA games. Thank God for that. GTA IV is a huge step in the right direction.

Running is annoying. I'm not quite sure why Rockstar thought that was a good idea.

My thoughts on this topic -

1. Don't criticise a game until you've played it and played it well.
2. What's the point of having a top score i.e. 10/10 if you can never award it?
3. A 10/10 award doesn't mean a game is perfect, just that the game is at the pinnacle of it's genre. GTA IV is at the pinnacle of it's genre.
4. Just because you don't believe something is fun, doesn't mean other people don't - each to their own.
5. Jealously is not nice, it's not pretty. Just because a game has stolen the light from the Wii/SSBM/Zelda/whatever doesn't mean you should throw your toys out of the pram.

None of these comments are aimed at anyone in particular!

I am largely platform agnostic. I fail to understand why some people get overly fanboyish about what is an inanimate piece of electronics that's obsolete even before it's launched, when there are far more important things to champion, such as preventing environmental destruction or preventing millions of people dying unnecessarily from illnesses. This fact however, doesn’t mean I am not someone who doesn’t enjoy gaming as a pastime (as I have done for the last 20 years) or doesn’t have a strong interest in how the market is evolving – hence my presence on this site.

Platforms owned – PC, DS, X-Box 360, PS3, PSP and Wii.

The game is great dont get me wrong but it isn't perfect even LoZ:OoT wasn't perfect but GTAIV doesn't revolutionalize anything like LoZ:OoT did in the adventure genre. GTAIV is awesome but shouldn't be herolded as best ever game.

"Like you know"

They did not make it for the Wii and were assholes about it so I am not going to buy it ever!
