Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Metroid Prime Trilogy to be Released for Wii

DMeisterJ:
To be honest, I don't really see the problem. Games like these help new gamers get introduced to older games with controls that significantly improve the game. These games help to pad out the Wii's game library with excellent titles. You can hardly suggest that Nintendo or Capcom are going to stop making new games just to slap IR controls on old franchises.

For what it's worth, I'd pick up a remade Prime 1/2 with IR, the controls really are that much better for FPS games over an analog controller.

Why would they port a game from the PS1 game to the PS3, when it's fully b/c?

?

I guess that was to me.

Again, different. An eleven year old game getting a REMAKE vs. a six, four, and eight month old game getting ported to the Wii for IR support.

Is the Metroid trilogy a remake or just port?

Also, the last game obviously wouldn't be a remake or a port... since it's already a Wii game.

But I bet there would be a good amount of people who would like a Metroid 1+2 that uses IR instead of regular controls. I never played the first two games (and have no intention to), simply because I have a great dislike of regular controllers. I did play Metroid Prime 3, and enjoyed it enough that I would be willing to pay $20-30 for a Metroid Prime 1/2 remake/port with IR pointers (though I probably wouldn't pay $50 for all three, since I already own the 3rd one).

I think you're making too big of deal about this.

@ Stever

It's no big deal, I just want people to understand that they're the reason why this happens, because people are all too happy to purchase a game with minor graphical upgrades, and IR support for 'better controls', then complain when developers don't put enough oomph into making a game for the Wii.

I agree it's good for people like you who don't like 'traditional controls', but it is that reason that will result in this happening more and more.

That still depends on whether this is an actual remake or a port.

And I don't really think all we'll ever see is ports and remakes. And there really aren't a whole bunch of remakes that have been mega successful on the Wii, with the only one that I know of is RE4. Okami might do well enough, but unless it does a million plus... then well. They'll eventually run out of games they can port anyway. ;)

Are you suggesting that the older MP's would not recieve a graphical upgrade/more or different enemies/bonus content in addition to the inclusion of IR support?

Not if RE4 Wii Edition is anything to go by.

Why would you use a Capcom game as precedence for a rumored Nintendo game?

But, the Wii version came with the bonus content of the PS2 version, even so, a Metroid prime 1/2 version for $40 + the use of the Metroid Prime 3 engine(for the effects and ir control) would be nice to be honest...

By me:

Made with Blender + LuxRender
"Since you can´t understand ... there is no point to taking you seriously."

This remind of the time when they said they would make 5 Metroid games on the GC.

So it was like 2 on GC and three on Wii :).

The difference is that MP is a AAA series. Even as a port, there was still a lot of work put into them when they were first made. With the third party games being complained about, there doesn't seem to be much work put into them at all.

See the difference? That's why Okami is fine with gamers, but something like Boogie isn't.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

In other words, you are trying to make us understand a point that you don't actually understand yourself. You are assuming that they are commending the lack of effort (no upgrades but the controls), when they are commending games that were good then, being played a new way now, as opposed to games that are just slapped together.

In my opinion DMeisterJ was simply trolling.

This would be a great idea, and no one complained so far except for DMJ.
I Havent played MP2 and I would like to play MP1 again, and would love if its with the Wii control scheme. Too bad I already own MP3, but anyways I get to play 2 games with a new control scheme, on of them which I have never played before.

Stop hating the Wii DMJ!! This is not a rip-off, its in fact a very good idea at a very nice price point.(Ofc its just rumor now)

Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Fullfilled Prophecies

This has been rumored since the Wii's release. This is most likely what upset the Retro people and got them kicked out. They were very adamant about doing something new on the Wii. I'm sure being told that they would be porting their old games over to the Wii made a lot of people a tad upset.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

i hope its true, i could finish up MP2, since my disc was stoled
