Yeah, the thing I loved about NMH (combat) is the thing that GTA does worst. Traipsing back and forth to pad the game's running time bores the shit out of me no matter what game it is - NMH, GTA, or Metroid's damned late-game fetch quests.

Where the problem came in, in San Andreas, is the mission structure. You get busted by a cop during a mission, you gotta drive all the way back to the mission start, and start the whole darn thing over again, with boring and excrutiatingly long load times.

 

I disagree on the music, I think it was alright, particularly the rap stations in San Andreas, lol. I love snoop god and Dre.

 

I do think the slowdown inherant in the PS2 versions of the game sucks, and the graphics aren't great.

 

Again, it's a game that tries to do everything, but doesn't do anything well.

 

I feel it's popular because of the things you can do in the game, like murder, rob and kill police officers, and not because of "how great the gameplay is."

 

However, that's just an opinion.

Good point. I always read the great reviews and think, "Well, maybe they fixed the gameplay in this one."

I will play it, but I do not think I will enjoy it. I own all the PS2 GTAs - bought the 3 for less than 10 dollars. And even so ... I want my 10 dollars back.

Yeah, I know. I have no idea why every reviewer loves it, except me. I almost always agree, but the series just rubs me the wrong way, everytime. I have tried and tried. It's just not for me.

They took out cheats?!?! Ok, that seriously leveled any hype I just built up for this. My favorite thing to do was run around the city doing random stuff with cheats. They were a big part of why the open-world was fun to explore. Even all the casual people I knew had the cheats memorized. If they really did remove them it was a dumb move. Can anyone else confirm this?
