Forums - Gaming Discussion - GTA IV Review up on IGN 10/10

If my English is good enough the "(particularly on 360)" part is about the texture pop-in and not the frame rate. Still, i'm getting it for the PS3 xD

As someone who isn't likely to get this game right away and maybe wait a little while for it (can't afford it at the mo and never been into GTA but was going to try anyway), it kinda makes me want to get it sooner.

But I think I'll wait on Edge's review. That will show if it's up to standards.

Hmm, pie.

this thread needs more starcraft/madskillz. can't wait to see how they spin the superior ps3 version.

"too bad the ps3 get's the incomplete version", is sure to arise.

Am I the only one who giggled when they read this?

I'm having a tough time swallowing the rest of the review after that line.

Xbox World 360 (UK) awarded it a score of 98%, the highest they've ever given out. Their verdict:

  • + Oscar-worthy dialogue
  • + unfeasibly rich gameworld
  • + inspired mission design

IGN is not the only site saying that, thought i'd put that up there

ah yes, with the dlc we know nothing about that won't be released for x amount of time.

"For those wanting to know which version looks better, the edge goes to the PS3. The textures and framerate are comparable, but the PS3 has far less pop-in. The 360 has richer colors, but the PS3 has better anti-aliasing making it look a little cleaner. Because GTA IV can preload onto the PS3 hard drive, the in-game loads are faster. Don't worry Xbox owners, the load times are rarely more than 30 seconds and don't occur very often. The slight visual edge goes to PS3, but the 360 is no slouch. Either version will do you proud."

360 version has load times? Well that's not good is it. The framerate issues sound worrying too

Lets remember its a different part of the staff who review movies.

10/10 though holy crap

This game is going to explode to epic porportion

I know, but unless the story is truly exceptional, descriptors like that shouldn't be thrown around. I highly doubt the story is that great. I hope I'm wrong but I'm probably not.

Interesting. So, either it's a great story with stunning dialogue or game reviewers are being their typical selves and holding games to a lower standard than any other form of entertainment, raving about anything that has a story more complex than "See Dick run. Run, Dick, run."

I'm inclined to believe it's the latter.

Nah, frame-rate is on the 360 and pop in.

I think the framerate issues mentioned were referring to both versions. The "particularly in the 360 version" followed the "and", leaving me to believe that they meant both show framerate issues, AND the pop-in issues are more particular to the 360 version.

The dedication you show to any particular console or company is inversely proportional to the number of times you have gotten laid. If you get laid enough, even if you prefer a certain brand, you just don't give enough of a shit to argue about it on the internet.
