Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Boom Box to have best physics on any console??

That's a bit of a statement there!

The developer says that it will have the best physics on any console and that it might come to other platforms as well. I personally have always preferred physics to graphics, but that is just me. What do you guys think?

edit: the title should be boom blox not boom box, my bad

Don't know about that, Half-Life 2 had some pretty neat physics. Wasn't just squares then either, I haven't seen alot of Boom Blox trailers but most of them just seem to have wooden squares in them.

Predictions for December 31st 2008:
Wii 38,000,000
DS 84,500,000
PS3 17,000,000
PSP 41,000,000
X360 23,000,000

it would be a tremendous coup for the wii to have the best in game physics this gen and you're right it is a very bold statement, let's hope that it's true,it could generate a lot of positive interest by game developers in wii hardware if it is.

nintendo and sega fan since i was old enough to hold a game controller.

note: my games collection on my profile is only 20ish% complete, i've got a boatload of 360,saturn and dreamcast games to add and a few ps3 games, thanks :)

That'd be a very bold statement.

They claim best physics not graphics. Having boxes does not make the physics bad, just maybe the graphics could be improved with PS3 and 360.

Could be true, while a game like Force Unleashed uses physics to enhance the experience, in Boom Blox it IS the experience.

hmm if they could pull it off then more pwer to them

read the article. The game is completely based on physics and he said that they use most CPU cycles for it and could imagine later porting it to other consoles.

Nothing beats Half Life 2 Episode 2's physics! Especially not a game that is made entirely out of wooden blocks!

Have you seen some of the destruction-parts in HL2EP2?!... Some bad-ass physics right there! Not to be rude, but Wii can't do those!

EDIT: EXAMPLE of good physics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Excy2yFcpbI&feature=related

THE NETHERLANDS

It uses Havok, same engine as Half Life 2, Oblivion, Smash Bros Brawl, Carnival games (arg!), Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, Godfather, My Sims, Halo 3, etc...

The biggest difference is that BoomBlox is very centrated in physics, so you will notice it more, but try to make similar systems inside Oblivion (put a dead body over another and make everything fall) and you will notice that it is going to work very similar...
